I don't know why it took me so long to figure out that Dawn Platinum Powerwash is the best jewelry cleaner! The foam reaches all the nooks and crannies and works beautifully on anything safe to use cleaner on. I just spray in a little lid and let it do it's magic, figured if it could work on pans it could clean my diamonds and gold!

@Angelmanmom lol At least 4 or 5 decades ago when I bought my first gold rope from a local jeweler, he recommended caring for it with hot water and a dash of dish detergent. Ever since, with any washable jewelry, I've always used the same technique.

As for brand? Whatever I've been using for my dishes at the time I wanted to clean my baubles. I do like the Dawn Powerwash you're using.

I use toothpaste, it will make your diamonds sparkle.

Hi, I haven't tried it on tarnish so I don't know. I use a child's electric toothbrush and things sparkle! The foam is wonderful

That Dawn will not remove tarnish. I tried it last night and it really made my stones sparkle but tarnish was still there.

Any good recommendations for cleaning sterling jewelry? I do not like the clothes. I used to use silver cleaner which works but its time consuming especially for earrings.

I wouldn't wash stones like topaz, amethyst, and other "sparkle" stones in soap or soak them; they become milky from absorbing the soap. Diamonds are high on the Mohs hardness scale and are alright, windex is great.

I use Windex on diamonds, gold and silver and it works pretty well.
