Sometimes that's just the way the pendant is made and you can't really do anything about it. Try putting the pendant on a different kind of chain or try a different length also.

I've done it for jewelry clients 2 ways: you can either put a jewelry magnet on the back of the pendant and another on the inside of your blouse or sweater OR you can add a pin back to the pendant to keep it in place. Hope this helps.

If you have the pendant done with a soldered double ring spaced apart at the top, it will stabilize it. I'm sure you've seen this common setting on Diamonique pendants...looks like rabbit ears at the top and both slide on to the chain.

I've used Fashion Tape to hold some of my smaller pendants in place. It also works well on the back of my neck to keep the clasp from moving down to the front. Just put a small piece right on my skin then press the clasp down on it.

Usually a pendant flips because the chain is too short for the wearer. We had a lot of customers complain their Perretti solitaire diamonds by the yard necklace would flip. (TIffany's) It would show the culet of the diamond and was uncomfortable. The solution was either an extender or the chain was replaced.

If it is a long pendant, it generally is because the pendant is too lightweight for the piece. Usually it is poorly executed and the entire design concept was poor.

Just be sure the back of the pendant is beautifully finished.

Tiffany's never addressed the issue with it flipping @Shanus except to state it has to do with the size of the woman's neck. The original Peretti necklace was designed with a bezel around the center diamond. I am not referencing the necklaces with a few diamonds rather the solitaire diamond pendant. I am familiar with some newer designs where they they cut the culet so that there are 2 diamonds one on the top and the other underneath. Those are the designs that are not original to the patented design from Tiffany's. Tiffany's in the 24 inch with sprinkles of diamonds doesn't flip because the platinum or 18k gold chain is relatively weighty. I own both because I was gifted both of them back in the 90's. If a customer's neck is very small, there should be no issues with the diamond flipping. The design is the key.

I understand that a pendant might swing but I was referencing the fact that a too light piece of jewelry hanging from a chain will flip. It should not do that if it was properly weighted.

Depending on the style of the pendant, what you might need to do is take it to your jeweler and have the bail switched out from a narrow bail or jump ring to a V-shaped or "rabbit ear" bail. By having the pendant hang from two points on the chain, spaced a little bit apart, it should be more stable. Of course, if your pendant is a round ball shape or even a teardrop shape and as round on the back as it is on the front, then odds are nothing will help.
