Bixby split shank flower ring

Did anyone buy this BB ring when it was "on sale" during her last visit? I bought the pink garnet and am still deciding if I'm going to keep it.

@Shanus Thanks for reading the reviews!! The white topaz stones are set so that no light reaches them except for the top of the stone. And to my eye, they do appear somewhat grey, and kind of dull. However, they also sparkle when the light hits them (kind of weird, really.) The ring is quite heavily oxidized, which I like, but that may also add to shade of the white topaz stones.

I'm just not sure what to do. I don't want to look like I'm wearing dirty stones, but I also appreciate that they are not Diamonique, and that they have their own unique quality which is affected by the setting. I know the ultimate decision is one that I tell everyone else who comes here asking, "Should I keep it?"; and that is, "Do I love it?". The answer is, as of now, I don't know.

@faeriemoon It's been my experience that white topaz stones are a love/hate. Some, like you said prefer a real gemstone over a CZ or the cost of diamonds. The trade off is the stone doesn't look like a diamond/CZ. If you like lots of sparkle around your setting, this isn't the ring for you. Hope this helps.

@faeriemoon I personally love the ring. The garnet is a beautiful pink shade, the design is unusual and the white topaz stones are perfect for the ring. If they were sparkly CZs or diamonds, they would distract from the garnet which is where the eye is meant to go. From my design and jewelry experience, it's a "keeper".

Bixby is a top jewelry designer and gives lots of thought to her designs and stones used.

Wow, that's $$$ for what it is. Inexpensive stones and light on the silver. It's a $59.00 ring on the other shopping channels.

It was $99 when I bought it. The silver is substantial, but I get what you are saying about the open feel of the ring.

@chrystaltree Snarky to say the least. @faeriemoon loves her ring and I don't think anyone should judge her taste or what she pays for her jewelry. Everyone's likes are different. This is an example of "if you can't say something complimentary, skip the post", please.

@faeriemoon Not to add to your conundrum or be a naysayer, but I guess I am. I can tell you without equivocation that I do not love the ring and in particular I do not love the diamond substitutes across the top and bottom. There are too many of them and real gemstones or not, they just don't win me over. She's had this ring around for a while and it's never tempted me. All that said, each to her own and if you decide you love it then you should keep it and enjoy it. The price wasn't a bad one, especially when you consider having to cover the cost of the return, so if you think you'll get even minimal wear from it, it might be worth keeping for you.

Thank you to all who took the time to respond even if you don't care for the ring. When I am unsure about something I keep it in its packaging on my dresser for a week or so and try it on at different times in different light. (I never wear it for 30 days and send it back-- a ridiculous practice IMO.) @stevieb I know the ring has been around a while because I've had my eye on it a while, the reason being I love jewelry with negative space. So when it came up on sale I decided to give it a shot.

Faeriemoon, I often find a quick cleaning with a good jewelry cleaner (not a silver dip, that will take the oxidation off the silver) like the foam that the Q used to sell, or a general purpose jewelry dip (like the brand that comes in the red jar) that's meant for gold will clean up white topaz stones nicely and return their sparkle. The Q often seems to send out slightly grungy silver, for some reason, I often clean up my new Bixby or Carolyn Pollack before I ever wear it.

@CamilleP If you don't want to use a treated cloth, Dawn and a soft toothbrush do a great job. The oxidation will not come off. No need to purchase a special jewelry cleaner which is usually a soapy ammonia solution you can make yourself. I have a professional sonic cleaner and steamer, but I can check prongs beforehand. Loose prongs put in there may cause stones to fall out.
