I love moissanite! I've bought many pieces from many different sites. I've never found a difference in quality as long as it's genuine moissanite manufactured by Charles and covard. I do think it's important to get a good setting in 14k gold.

OK, those of you who own Moissanite can you please tell me what it is? I know it's not a natural diamond or a stone such as Diamonique, it's very expensive, so what is it?

Yes, I know I can search for the info online, but, I'd rather hear from someone who has Moissanite.

It's a natural mineral found in the earth by a man named Moissan. The pieces he found were too small to make jewelry with them. So scientitstas found a way to create the mineral in a lab. Moissanite is unique chemisty wise and unlike anything else on earth....it just happens to look like a top quality diamond.

Natural Moissanite crystals are so small and some have actually been found inside diamonds as inclusions.

Since you are looking for a loose 1.5-ct stone, I was going to suggest buying a pendant from JTV's Moissanite Fire Collection...one set in sterling and that way you won't be weighed down by the cost of the setting then have the stone removed. JTV does sell loose Moissanite stones but those are big carat weights and cost quite a bit more than a 1.5-ct in a setting. Moissanite Fire stones are colorless and can be compared to a D-grade diamond.

I have a 3 stone ring in white gold - total weight 2 carats. Had it for so long I don't remember where I got it. Same with the 1.50 total weight studs in white gold. Love moissanite. I wouldn't order from Charles Winston either. Not sure of his quality. Definitely I would check Charles and Colvarde. Good luck.

Charles is on JTV today. Some of the pieces are set in 14k yellow gold and white for the gold lovers Enjoy
