No JAI chatter?

I like the arrow pieces. Still deciding...

I think the prices are affecting the popularity of this line. Customers notice when prices start out reasonable, then the Q decides to spike them just because they can.

Scott brings beautiful, heavy, quality jewelry; but it's still QVC, not John Hardy.

(I'll be happy to see that Alaska collection gone.)

I just don't see anything I want. Many of the recent pieces are too masculine for my taste. I do agree that the prices are getting too high; I feel the same way about Barbara Bixby's line. These items are made overseas where the labor force is paid significantly less than if they were made in America - the pricing should be lower. JMO

I agree. Though I think Barbara Bixby's line has always been super pricey. I do have a couple of her pieces and I have to say they are gorgeous! I really like the Jai whale tail pendant, appreciate the easy pays but wish they would put it on sale with free shipping.

I am loving the new woven rope bracelet that was on at 1:00. I love the rope design and purchased it when it was the TSV but sent it back because it was to thin and kept turning around on my wrist.

My 2 cents:

I think he's gone off the path of resembling John Hardy items to the point that his items are no longer appealing to many who used to purchase them in large numbers. The price for items he has bringing in lately are, IMHO, simply too much. Many of them look almost amateurish vs high-end classic style (John Hardy).

I own quite of few JAI pieces and LOVE them. However, they blend it with my John Hardy items; there are times I can't tell which is which. Now? The collections are cutesy (to me). I haven't purchased anything since the leopards were introduced and that is due to a line John Hardy has offered for years based on the leopard; the pieces work so well together.

I don't mind paying the money for a solid, well made piece of jewelry but when it resembles things I've seen at TJ Maxx or Penny's....not paying the price.

I also think he needs to lay off the “layer it up theme”. I think the models look silly, and i couldn’t stand all that weight on my wrists. Between that and the mushy symbolism i am saving a lot of money.

He's still overdoing that box chain bracelet. Now he's got gem beads. So overdone. The arrow design has been around by other lines. And he needs to clean his dirty fingernails.

@Shawnie I agree. It’s up to the individual if she wants to layer up her arm...or not. I like it for me, have done it since art school. It’s off putting for others. Just sell one piece and we’ll decide if we need 3 to go with it.

@Shanus @most people can’t pull off that look either. And the look he is promoting is so expensive. Jane tried to interject reality with the ODO, and he insisted on recommending that you buy one of each. If you have to layer that much on to make the look then most people are out because it is pretty expensive to do that. Sell one piece at a time, show the sets, AND style the models to wear each piece as they are presented so you can tell what that piece looks like. The way they are insisting on showing it is a big glob of stuff. Except for the earrings. Anyway, i just think they are seemingly catering to collectors, and not people like me that have a few Jai, and want to integrate it with other types of jewelry.

Also, the JH website has fantastic sales twice a year. I have purchased directly from them at lower prices than JAI.

@Shawnie I agree about the bangle bracelets. I have at least 40-50... all different styles: thin, wide, shiny, oxidized, hammered, some set w/ turquoise stones, etc., but I’ve collected them since I was 18 years years old!!! Some are purchased and some of them I made. I wear an odd number from 3 to 5, sometimes 7 (if a lot of thin ones in the mix) with my watch on left wrist. That’s MY style. It shouldn’t be shown on models that way.

@faeriemoon I love all animals, but when it’s the main theme in a line of jewelry, you can’t wear too many pieces together without looking like an ad for a zoo. I think that’s Jai’s issue...tigers, snakes, elephants...better to concentrate on designs and textures on at least some pieces. I wouldn’t wear a lion pendant, elephant bracelet and leopard ring. Over the top!

I have the small front facing elephant and the small leopard enhancers. That is the extent of my animal collection. They look great on a chain with a sweater. But add earrings bracelet and ring in the same animal theme and i would look at best overdone. But that is what he advocates in whatever the line is. Everybody has a look. But according to his post- show FB posts lots of the new sold out so his pitch must bring in the $$$$. It just is tiresome to me.

I have 2 leopard enhancers that I wear on a bold long chain with sweaters/tunics. I'm very tall so this works perfectly.

I was told/shown by those in they industry that when it comes to a pattern/theme, it's best to wear ONE item as the accent/show-me piece and keep everything else neutral, Otherwise, it can easily cross over to the "way too much" side.

I found this to be true when I purchased an EFFY leopard ring years ago (made with white, topaz and black diamonds). It's a large ring and is made to resemble the leopard print you in scarves, shoes, bags, etc. With a pair of jeans and a black cashmere sweater, it looked great. When I added a pair of leopard flats and a scarf...TOO MUCH. Took off the scar. Still TOO much. Took off the flats and replaced them with black flats and added a scarf with black, gray and tan in in the soft pattern...perfect. Earrings were small diamond studs. That ring was the ONLY leopard item needed because it was a show-me item.

Nothing wrong in showing all the items in a collection that are for sale but to say you should wear them all together for the "look"? Um...no.

I am not a fan of his animal jewelry at all. I do like the box chain collection and his new rope from Alaska. He is just suggesting on how to wear them. Jill B always stacked her bracelets and they looked great. I have a tiny wrist so too much stacking would look ridiculous on me.
