For those of you who love this stone, Gems En Vogue on Evine has a very nice ring on a TSV. It is really pretty. Michael V. did another good job.

Not a bad price ($299.95) for 1.83ct of Alexanderite. I'm not wild about the setting but might consider it since it's my birthstone (June) and I've never had one. However, I've sworn off more jewelry so I'll abstain. Thanks for posting though, @sunshine 919 .

I have owned a huge synthetic Alexanderite solitaire for 50 years. I have priced the stone on EBay and it's value is about $700. I love the unique color change properties.

@patbz. I have one of those too. Huge ring with exquisite silver work but nothing like real Alexanderite. Mine is plum that chanes to dark blue depending on the light. I got mine about 15 years ago from a dealer in Bangkok. I think I also have a pendant...can't remember. If I could get $700., for it, it would be out the door. Never wear them, just too big.

I also have a 9mm Russian lab created alex. It's in a wide gold band, and I've worn it every day, for as long as I can remember....

I got a friend at church I take bread and rolls too and she has a pink

alex. Don't know why I never acquired a pink stone since I'm pink crazy

I always thought they were just green. Most jewelry, you will come to learn there are no rules. Everything comes in every color.

Pretty ugly stone.... at least those on sale.... But Russian lab created are really great quality, the color change is perfect.

BTW in Russia it is considered very unlucky stone, has a nickname “Widow stonne”.

If you do wear it, wear it in pair.

My son was born in June and it took a long time, but I ultimately received an alexandrite ring. The real deal. One of my most treasured pieces from my husband.

I purchased a real Alexandrite ring and pendant years ago while on a cruise. They are soft stones so I don’t wear them often, but love the color change.

I know a lady who had a very very old ring that was bought in Russia a long time ago. It was the real deal. The stone was the size of or a little larger than a dime and there was a dramatic color change from light green to light amethyst color when we'd go from inside to outside.

It wasn't fabulous just to look at it, but the color change was really amazing. And it was BIG!

@Kachina624 I don't think so. Her husband was a well-known and educated geologist, and he had worked in Russia early in the 1900's--like 1920's or something. He bought it there and brought it back, so he would have had access to people who dealt in gemstones and would have known what was a real one by looking at it.

@Sooner. @sunshine 919. @1Snickers @BirkiLady @SANNA. @Patbz. @Desertdi Here's some interesting info about Alexanderite. It says stones over 3ct are very rare. I'd guess my synethetic stone is 10 to 15ct. It also must be fairly hard.

@Kachina624 Mine is in the safe deposit box (with the appraisal). It's a large natural stone; not a bunch of small stones like the ring QVC is showing. It's my son's birthstone and is a fine cut, high quality stone which our jewelers searched for for many years. They brought in several (4 or 5) stones for my husband to choose from. (I didn't know anything about it at the time.) He gave me the stone as a gift. Then, we had it set in a better mounting and placed on a kind of wide ring I had selected. The color change is amazing; even inside.
