Oxidizing silver advice

Does anyone have experience with Liver of Sulfur to oxidize silver? I've Googled it and tried the egg yolk method and didn't have much success. Any how to suggestions, warnings or advice welcome!

I'm thinking the silver ring J349841 would look better with oxidation, but I may leave it. I have a Byzantine bracelet I might like to do also.

I think my Mom used it years ago and it had a pretty horrible odor

A qualified silversmith who knows what he/she is doing is the only satisfactory way to oxidize a piece of silver.

My daughter uses that stuff for her jewelry--it is stinky and kind of caustic and she has to be careful about how she disposes the liquid; and she does it outside. She makes gemstone and silver trees of life pendants. But I would go to a jeweler for advice.

I've had very good luck with cooked egg yolks in a plastic bag. Perhaps there's some plating that is getting in your way?

Thanks @depglass@@@@@ I did more reading on the egg method and I didn't do it while it was hot, so that was probably it. I'm going to try the egg method again instead of buying the sulfur product.
