I’d shop locally as well as online. Online merchants are most likely to offer 14K or better. Be sure to shop strictly by a budget, looking for an appropriate cross that meets your price point, no matter what the carat quality of gold. You might need to find a good deal that includes the chain. For a boy, I’d want a heavier, more masculine chain, even if the cross is small.

Try Amazon online as they have a good spectrum of price points, not because they are so strong in jewelry offerings. If there’s a Kohl’s near you , I’d stop by the jewelry counter. They often have nice inexpensive jewelry at holiday times. Also, does a nearby church have a gift shop or hold a Christmas bazaar at this time of year? Might find a cross and chain there.

10k gold will be very thin and soft. Young teen boys are not known for being careful, so a fragile low carat cross will be doomed fairly quickly. Look for a good deal,on 14k rather than settling for a 10k product. Another price compromise is to buy silver instead of gold. More bang for the buck and will look good on a boy.

Hope i helped. I’m sure your grandson will love having handsome jewelry from his Grandma.

Any suggestions for a gold cross for 13 year old Grandson.

I would prefer 10 k as 14 K would be too pricey for me

Look into gold filled crosses. They really wear well and the outside is 14 kt. I have some antique pieces of this type of gold ,and they have no visible wear on them at all
