QUESTION ABOUT DIAMONIQUE

I am a die hard Diamonique fan, but I was wondering something....I love Tova Borgnine, I truly do. And, I am not here to besmirch her good name. But, I was watching a Diamonique show the other day with Jill Bauer as the host and Erin, whom I guess is with Diamonique. The show was wonderful until they brought out Tova with pieces that now bear her name. I realize that she is sharing some of her favorite pieces that are replicas of jewelry from her personal collection. All this being said, I think her designs are gorgeous, but what I don't understand is why they seem to be offered at really high prices. I thought the concept behind Diamonique was "affordability" and that is why I love mine. I think some of her pieces are absolutely to die for, but I don't love the prices of them. I mean, one item comes to mind, actually 2. The 8.40 ct. studs replicated from real diamond studs borrowed from Harry Winston for a Hollywood function and the other one is her heart pendant/necklace. Yes, it is gorgeous, yes, it has many different cuts of the stones. Both of these pieces are well above $100 and I am curious to know why. They are set in the same settings QVC has most Diamonique set in, so am a bit puzzled as to why her pieces are priced so much higher. Maybe I am missing something, but I don't think so.

I just think QVC thinks (hopes) that people will pay these prices because they are from Tova and think they are worth it.

I always think it is ridiculous to mention carats in diamonique-it is just crystal or whatever you call the material.

Diamonique used to be very affordable. I have some from the past but wouldn't buy them at the prices they have now.

But I think most of QVC's prices are overpriced compared to similar things sold elsewhere.

Unfortunately for us, the prices are higher because they have Tova's name attached.

I'm guessing that they are specialty pieces. They require more work because they are created to certain specifications to replicate Tova's items. But there are many Diamonique pieces that aren't Tova's that are over $100.

I also have a lot of Diamonique and love it. I recently bought one of Tova's rings. Yeah.. it was pricey but when I got it home and saw it in person, I believe it is worth every penny. Yes, the higher price could be because Tova's name is on it, but I also believe they are specialty pieces with a lot of stones, in difficult and different cuts. I think there is probably more workmanship in her jewelry, thus the higher price. I love her pieces and will be buying more.

If you want those big stud earrings they are now in "as is" for $68. I think they are more expensive because of the omega backs (and they are beauties!)

It doesn't seem to me that Diamonique, on its own, is coming up w/ new and interesting designs we've asked for. Having Tova's pieces, over priced or not, is the closest we'll get for now.

I'd love to see Danny (Adi Paz) and other jewelry designers besides Ripka design w/ Diamonique.

My guess is that when QVC makes basic and classic diamonique jewelry, they probably make thousands of pieces. In addition, they probably use the same design for 14k, sterling and platinum bonded.

Tova's pieces are made is small qualities. The same workmanship and probably more go into each piece.

It's just like when you order custom made anything with custom original graphic artwork. The artwork is expensive and you pay a high price for it. The initial artwork design is priced the same weather you use it one time or thousands of times.

If you can sell thousands of items with that artwork, they can sell for less money than say 50 items.

It's just their marketing strategy. They charge more because Tova's name is on it and her fans will more for a Dmq piece that is part of her collection. I'm sure that many women collect her jewelry. And what is expensive to you, isn't expensive to someone else.

ITA. Look how expensive Joan Rivers' statement necklaces are? Over $100 and just base metal!

@Shanus I'm really surprised to hear you suggest the Israeli designers should use Diamonique. I've heard so many people suggest it ruined Ripka and I tend to agree with that. I believe Adi Paz is the gold version; why not use diamonds?

@Kachina624. I meant Danny's silver line. Ripka's prices are off the charts whether she uses real stones or Diamonique. By suggesting Danny's silver jewelry, I figured it may be a way to have a transfusion of new designs added to Diamonique. They obviously are not willing to hire in house designers.
