topic Are the Ripka prices outrageous? in Jewelry

One or two visits ago I became angry at the increase in prices of JRQ. It started when I saw that the signature heart ring price has almost quadrupled since I bought it as a TSV years ago. I think I was even intemperate about it on this board.

As a JR collector of all of her various lines of jewelry, I looked over the recent selection of JRQ. When I saw some of the prices this visit I mentioned my unhappiness to my daughter who is working on her PhD in economics. She told me that the price of silver alone has quintupled since I bought the ring, and as such a less than quadruple increase seemed reasonable to her. Consequently, I have come to see this issue differently.

Of course no one should buy anything if the price seems wrong. That is a personal choice. But, because of the increase in price of all raw materials used in the manufacture of everything, perhaps QVC is not engaging in price gouging. Maybe the price increases merely reflect the reality of our bad economy. While I am not going to pay over $400 for the new heart bracelet, for example, I don't think I am going to forswear buying any JRQ forevermore.

But I am going to be a lot more selective in my purchases of JRQ, and all of her other lines.
