Why two hosts for Diamonique?

I think it's overkill with the two person shows on diamonique,don't you? Mary Beth and others have been selling that stuff alone since dinosaurs walked,they don't need help. I think I saw the Diamonique woman on another channel. I like her but they don't need her there.

In watching other jewelry shows, I wonder why two hosts too? One is good to me.

I agree with both of you. It's overkill especially when they have presented this line for years with hosts who are very qualified. I can understand when they have Peyton K or David M on set because those are specific to the item being presented.

@MoJoV Maybe having 2 hosts makes the line look more important or special...needs 2 people to discuss its virtues. Yes, overkill. This is not a remote from Italy where an Italian lady sometimes joined the host to further explain the designs. Diamonique is self explanatory....CZs.

I totally agree! She seems like such a nice lady and always presents herself well – nothing negative to say about her personally. I just haven’t taken to her in this role because she seems so unnecessary coming in after all these years when the hosts know more about the product line and have presented it very well on their own over the years. Some of these hosts started presenting Diamonique likely when she was in grade school. It is a total distraction to me. I can see when a new vendor comes it is important to have someone from the company present to explain why/how their product is new/different. But Diamonque is a house brand that has been presented from day one by the QVC hosts; along with a model to show the jewelry being worn (I prefer the models to the hosts wearing it). With all the things on QVC that need to be changed, this addition was one that was not necessary. Perhaps she could be used in another way with another product line actually needing vendor assistance. She seems very capable, she was simply placed in a situation where one more person just detracts from the sale of the product rather than enhances it.

The only think I can think of is that she's either related to or a friend of one of the higher ups and she needed a job. She does happen to be a lovely woman.

I just assumed that they are trying to make Diamonique seem more "important" (for lack of a better word). More along the lines of their regular designers who come in periodically.

The diamonique of today IS NOT the diamonique of yesteryear. My first piece was a pair of earrings my sister bought me in 1995, set in gold. They were beautiful. I bought a pair of lever backs in vermeil this past summer and the quality was non existent. The metal was hair thin and the stones were akin to dime store quality.

David M. (Markstein) is the Vincenza gold jewelry expert. He would go to Italy several times a year and bring back gorgeous items and "Fresh from the Fair" pieces.

Erin does alot of smiling and nodding and appears to be a time filler. It's diamonique not rocket science. When I first saw her in the middle of the night with Alberti it was confusing as to why she was even there.

They have 2 people for for just about everything!! Sometimes 3 people are up there! Overkill for sure. Does this really increase sales? It must!

I think they need to do away with the regular hosts, and just have a backstage coordinator who controlls the coming and goings of the "guest" presenters.

Maybe QVC is trying to appeal to a different generation with a younger presenter in addition to the "seasoned" host! That is the first thing I thought of when I saw this presentation.

DOes anyone remember years ago when there were very, very few vendor reps on with the hosts? I can only recall a handful. The Qvc hosts seemed to,do a excellent job of explaining and selling the products without a endless parade of vendor reps sharing the stage with them.

Yes, I preferred that approach. They trained the hosts very well on products, even sent them on location to where things were mined, or manufactured, on a regular basis. Often they took the cameras along and even did remotes from those locations. You felt like you were learning so much right along with them. When it was just the host and the model (for clothes & Jewelry etc.) the hierarchy was clear so there was not talking over each other, no fighting for airtime, etc. There were exceptions, I think Susan Graver has always been there coupled with a host – and Lee Sands was, just to name a few. But most presentations were clean, clean and thorough with just the host making the presentation. Now-a-days it feels too busy for me…people coming & going and most not adding much. It always amazes me when companies make changes for the sake of change.

Yes, in regard to Peyton Kelly, love him, he's a huge asset to any gem show, knowledgable and gracious, definitely a crowd pleaser! Like David M too, great on the gold shows.

I like Erin for Diamonique and think she adds a lot of good info to the show and makes Diamonique seem fresh instead of same old. Because of her take on Diamonique I'm starting to collect and wear it again.

Is David Markstein still around anyway?? Haven't seen him on Q in forever and his FB page is almost non-existent.

He was a real bore anyway. His overly expressed facial motions to make us believe what he's saying is so accurate.

Since Q no longer does Live shows from Italy, and rarely any jewelry shows too, he seems like dust in the wind now.

As for the DMQ rep, she is so NOT needed either. Seems they only brought her on board to make it appear DMQ is more important than what it really is. She adds nothing to the shows. Smiles, nods, agrees with what the host is saying and looks pretty. That's about it.
