Frye Boots

So I have my Frye Boots from - I think - 1974. I saw on Ebay and some are selling up to $500! Maybe I'll sell mine. I loved them so much. I think I paid around $75-80. I have 4 daughters and none of them were interested 10-15 years ago. I remember I have a demin jumper that I wore them with. Funny how I remember that.

I spotted a pair similar to a pair I bought for $10 at a thrift store in the 1980s. They sold for $400 on ebay. Yikes. I sent mine off to the Goodwill years and years ago.

The pair I had years ago were not particularly comfortable which is why I sent them off to the Goodwill. Wooden heels with wooden soles and no padding. Even wearing heavy socks didn't help much.

They were the rage on college campuses back in the 1970s. Girls would wear them with long boho skirts. I desperately wanted a pair but they were so expensive. About $100-$150 in the shoe store. That was a crazy amount back then.

I was thrilled when I found a pair in a thrift store a few years later, although they were no longer a fashion craze. But I found them so uncomfortable I rarely wore them.

I have the Tamara over-the-knee shearling boot in this color. I bought them several years ago. They are very warm. Love them.

I have Frye boots too from the early 1970's. I got them at the Frye boot factory in Massachusetts when I was a teen. I have seen them go for expensive prices. I will have to dig them out and try them on to see if they still fit my leg. Mine are knee high.

I have a pair of Frye leather boots that I bought sometime in the mid to late 70s. I wore them then, but haven't for decades now, so they still look like new.

I refuse to donate them - I'll put them on eBay or a similar site eventually. (I know they're worth money and someone would likely snap them up at a Goodwill or other place and list them for sale, so it might as well be me.)

I have three pairs of tall Frye boots and two shootie style that I bought ages ago and they were expensive back then, but the prices now, wow! I haven't worn them for a while but I will this upcoming season.

These are the ones I bought as a junior in HS and I think they were around $100. I was crazy about them, but I went to Catholic school so I had to find excuses to wear my own clothes some days just to wear them. 😃

I bought my first Frye cowboy boots in 1986. I seldom wore them for many years and one of my dogs ate the top of one boot. He split the inside pull tab and chewed about 2 inches down. My feet changed and I had surgery on one foot, so that pair of Fryes no longer fit. I finally donated them since you could wear them with jeans and pants. I have 4 other pairs of Frye boots, but that first pair that I held onto for over 25 years was special.

Some of my friends in high school wore this kind of Frye harness boot with the square toe. I really never liked them so I never got on that wagon.

I remember the guys were wearing those in high school. I never liked that particular style, too masculine with anything except jeans.

@SilleeMee ! Believe it or not I bought those Frye's in dark brown in the late 90s and still wear them! The only thing is that they're so heavy I can't wear them too long. The toe is square like that but the heel is a little lower and not slanted.

They do look heavy. The leather must be really thick.

Years ago, when I was married, he and I rode on his Harley. I had some HD boots and also a HD leather biker jacket and chaps. They were made of thick heavy leather. I couldn't wait to take them off when we got home...too heavy!

I have the Billy Short in several colors and love them. They are so surprisingly comfortable!

I'd love the Campus 14L Wide Calf but cannot justify spending that kind of money on a pair of boots these days. Sigh. But I do love them.
