Washable Sneakers

Has anyone tried washing sneakers. If so, how did they come out. I have a pair that claim to be washable and I'm reluctant to wash them for fear of ruining them. They weren't cheap.

I have "washable" sneakers as well. I've washed them many times. Just do not put in the dryer.

I wash my washable sneakers, and they turn out great. I set them on a rug to air dry and never put them in the dryer.

I wash mine often because I garden in them. I put them in the washer with throw rugs so they don't bang around. Then let them air dry. Haven't had any issues, but I wouldn't use hot water.

I wash most of my sneakers. I just don't put them in the dryer. I hang them by the shoelaces until they dry. Usually takes a couple of days, but that's not a problem for me.

I've always washed my sneaks, even the non-washable variety like Skechers. I use Lysol Laundry Sanitizer in the wash plus Nellies and that gets rid of any and all odors plus it kills germs. Don't put them in the dryer. Just air dry.

I've tried washable shoe brand BZees, they range from loafers, booties, boots, they may have sneakers.

They wash beautifully. Their price point is pretty good too. Highly recommend, incredibly comfortable shoes.

I just get a bucket of warm soapy (laundry det) water and scrub with a brush, rinse and allow to dry with newspaper stuffed in the toes. I take the liners out if they are removable. I don't like to put anything too dirty in my machine because I wash my nicer things there. Also we are restricted on water, so I have to think of that too.

I have washed them in the machine over the years, and they come out ok.

ETA == If anyone cares, my sneakers came out perfect. Put them outside to dry yesterday.

I was surprised to read this. I have many pairs of Skechers and they're all washable. Which Skechers aren't washable? (I'll avoid those, lol.)

I learned the hard way. I DID put them in the dryer with a load of towels. BIG mistake! They came apart. I should have known better!

When I bought them a long time ago they didn't say they were actually washable but I always threw them in the wash anyway, except for the leather and suede ones I don't wash.

Oh, ok. On the Skechers website they say "machine washable" for the athletic shoes, but I always prefer to soak mine in a plastic container and then hand scrub. But I doubt that's the case for the sandals and maybe some of the bootie styles. Not sure, because I don't own any of those. Using the Lysol laundry sanitizer is a great idea!

I have always washed my tennis shoes, even my leather ones, for over 50 years. I don’t usually put in the dryer, but I do when I need them dry quickly. I have never had an issue, lol. When they now say “washable” I just laugh. I washed our sons’ when they were young, and I was my grandsons’ now, lol. I put in with some towels or something that will help clean the soles.

That's an odd question. I wash all my sneakers, I only buy sneakers that say they are machine washable. I washed my white Sketchers Saturday. I love bright white white sneakers, so I have washed them numerous times. They come out great. I use cold water and wash them alone.

I've washed all kinds of sneakers and "athletic shoes" for my whole life, and I too laugh when they say "washable" like it's something new...

I wash them with old car wash/pet towels. I only use hot water to wash. Of course, if they have dirt on them that can be removed with a hose and a brush, I do that first before washing..I get them as clean as possible before I clean them! I use TIDE detergent.

Yes they will fall apart over time, but so what. I don't keep sneakers for 100 years....I rotate them. When they start to fail, they become mower or garden or lawn raking shoes.

To dry them, I place them in the hot sun in the summer on the blacktop driveway ( only wash them when it's going to BE sunny and dry) or, if winter, sole side up on my cast iron radiator, on an old towel.

that radiator will dry ANYTHING. In fact, I dry all towels and heavy stuff on those radiators in winter...they are dry in a short time, and they add tons of moisture to the air in the dry house. Free vaporizor!!!

Know what else I wash? Old leather bags ( purses). I empty them, put them in with some towels, and they get nice and clean. Can only do it a few times before the handles wear out first. The bags themselves don't seem to mind at all.

I wouldn't do it with a fabulously expensive bag, but I washed Tignanellos many times with great results.

I wash anything. I like clean!!! And a LOT of stuff that says "dry clean only" can be washed. That's a gimmick like food expiration dates.

I had one set of Ryka sneakers that had some leather trim on them...washed them at least five times before they became mower shoes.
