Hi Ladies! Can any of you please offer me some suggestions on footwear, socks, APMA accepted insoles, anything - for life with tailor bunions? I now need a wide width shoe and am happy QVC offers many brands. Have had some luck with Earth and Vionic. Need roomy toe box without swimming in the heels, but will work with that through heel slip pads, etc. Donated all of my old shoes. My feet grew a full size as well. Both of these seemed to have happened in response to recovery from a knee fracture that had me out of my regular footwear for months, limited activity, and compensating for the injury when I did walk. Some support and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I am sorry you are having that problem, which I do not know about, but I find that SAS (San Antonio Shoes) has some very comfortable shoes in an excellent variety of widths and sizes and that is all I wear now and my podiatrist strongly approved at my last visit. The sandals I get have 2 adjustable straps across the top of foot and one adjustable strap at the heel. Once you set the straps to your liking, you can just leave it that way and easily slip the shoe on and off. If they have a store anywhere in your area, you will find their staff very helpful in fitting you. Otherwise you will have to check it out online. I hope you are successful in finding good shoes.

I find shoes that are comfortable and wear them till they fall apart...as they are a blessing to find! I am so fortunate that my feet do not hurt. I wear medium width shoes with a wide toe box.

how bad is your pain or discomfort? There is bunion surgery to correct the bunion, but it is major surgery that keeps you off your foot for quite a while to heal.

Thank you! I will check out everything. I've found that with most bunion items they are referring to the larger bunion on the inside of the foot not the tailor but I won't rule any option out. God bless you for your time responding. I appreciate it.

I also have significant foot issues but they are unrelated to bunions. I do hope there is a store in your area so you can try before you buy. If not, the website has many, many styles. I can only wear the closed toe shoes, but they have a large variety of sandals. I saw a lady who had on socks with the sandals she was buying so that could work, too.

Please do not be put off by the price. These shoes are leather. Most styles are made in San Antonio or were when I lived in the area. They last for years. All you may need is a little shoe polish now and then, and they will look as good as new.

Good luck! I believe their web site has a store locator function. Otherwise if your store even has a couple of styles to try, you can at least get the feel of the comfort they offer.

I've had a tailor bunion and hammertoes on right foot only for many years. I try to wear medium width shoes with generous toe box. My feet are slim from instep through heel so I walk right out of any wide width shoe. Luckily I live in a warm climate where I can wear sandals nearly year around. I buy sandals with adjustable straps. Alegria is a good fit for bunions. I also wear lots of clogs and slides. If you need a sneaker, I've found both Brooks and Hoka to be comfortable fits. Both brands have wide toe boxes in a medium width. I have the most trouble with leather shoes because leather does not stretch and give the way a fabric shoe does, but I have few occasions to wear a leather shoe these days. For dress pumps I look for a rounded toe, like Easy Spirit. No more high heel pointy toe pumps for me. Good luck!

Although no problems with bunions, I wear Finn shoes and sandals (when not wearing Birkenstocks!!) due to diabetes and Lupus problems with my feet and legs. They have a wide toebox, are well-crafted, very comfortable, and all leather. Expensive, but good footwear is worth the price in my opinion.

I tried them on (for fit only) at a local shoe store, but found them to be less expensive on-line at finn dot com

Their customer service is wonderful.

I have found a great fit with th e "Sketchers Relaxed Fit" and the Clarks Relaxed Fit" shoes/boots/sneakers. Nothing else works for my foot with it's issues. The wide width is troo big in the footbed except for the toe box and going up 1/2 size is too long a footbed for my foot.

I have the Sketchers version in 2 pair of thre tennis/slip on shoes.

I have the Clarkes version in 2 pair of the leather "shooties".

Hope this helps you.

Thank you very much! I will give it a try! Concept sounds promising. No need to stretch the whole foot bed. Thanks again!
