CHELSEA BOOTS?

If this was a style before and brought back now, I'm not aware. I do have ankle boots that I wear almost exclusively in cool weather and don't get the difference.

Are Chelsea boots the same and just given a newer name to induce sales?

have no idea,but to me the heel is way to chunky for me.almost looks heavy to walk in.im not impressed

I’m not sure how Chelsea boots got their name but they have been around for many years. Wiki has an article about them but it didn’t really say where the name originated.

@Janey2 The elastic is the only difference? I must have been under a rock, but when did they replace ankle boots? It seems all the low cut boots now are these Chelsea boots.

I'm no expert, but Chelsea have been around for decades. They are an anke, but it's the shape that make it a *Chelsea* almond shaped toe, they come up a little higher than ankle and usually have a small 3/4" heel, that is traditional. Think Beatles from the sixties. They've come in and out of trend over the years. RIght now, the Chelsea is back, via the VC like shape from the TSV.

@Luvsmyfam They do seem to have a bulky, block heel. I'll stay with my ankle boots I've collected over the years. These appear a bit more "masculine", too as @Desertdi mentioned.

I feel like this style has repeated itself for the last 2 years. It's boring for me and I quickly passed as I have so many of this style, no matter what they call it.

Chelsea is the name of the style. It's a classic, and they've been around for years. Depending on the trends, the toe shape and heel/sole change, but the constant is the elastic inset. This year, lug soles are all over the place -- thus, the Vince Camuto version. I own several variations on the Chelsea boot.

I have a collection of Chelsea rain boots - different colors - look like patent leather - that I got from Amazon.

This is what I call a Chelsea boot. They have flat heels. Elastic at the ankle. Some are more dressy than others. Have been around a long time.

Currently, more trendy versions with higher heels that I don't call Chelsea.

The first three are Ralph Lauren.

This one a favorite.

This is one of Frye's versions, sold on QVC.

Chelsea is an affluent area in London. In the 1960s it was the mod scene there in London where it all started.

Look at their boots.
