when I graduated from nursing school in 1973 I splurged on my first pair of nice Italian leather shoes, Via Spiga open toe high heels. they were at a fancy store I couldn't afford to go to but they were on sale for 1/2 price, so I decided to treat myself.

I still have them and still wear them occasionally.

My oldest is a 7 year old pair of fur lined winter boots worn only a couple of times. The rest of my shoes are less than 3 years old.

My feet have changed significantly since my knee replacements. I got rid of all of my shoes after my first surgery in 2012. My every day shoes are replaced yearly, and my occasional shoes every 2-3 years. I limit myself to 10 pair, and mainly buy Alegria, Brooks, and my last purchase was Propet.

I have too much invested in my knees to wear worn shoes.

Really a good idea to replace everyday shoes each year. I"ll keep that in mind!

I wish I had kept the platform shoes (2 pairs) that I bought in Spain in 1973. Who knew those would be back in style? The oldest pair of shoes I currently own is a pair of spectator pumps that my mother wore in the 1950's. I used to be able to wear them when I was younger but they're a little too snug now. I still keep them for sentimental reasons though.

I’ve been downsizing my shoe collection, so I’ve sold or donated lots of my shoes in the last several years. I kept a pair of peep toe navy wedges and dressy black cut out pumps that are probably 10 -15 years old. Since they’re only worn a few times each year they still look good.

I have my original FRYE boots from 1974-75. I think I paid about $80 for them. That was alot of money for a young working girl!

Most of my shoes are current or a few years old. I still have my wedding shoes however from 1982. I wore white & gold sandals....I've kept them for sentimental reasons but really only wore them back then.

@pprmntstx Thanks! They are pretty and current enough looking but they would hurt my feet too much today. Plus my feet are a size larger than they used to be.
