Fix for shoes with slippery bottom

Maybe everyone already knows this, but I found something to make the bottoms of my kitten heel mules stop slipping.

I don't wear them often, but without backs, they are like wearing house slippers....and can be slippery

Tried sanding them...no luck.

Stopped at my local hardware and got a strip of "3M Safety Walk." This is the stuff you can tape on to steps and elsewhere to stop slips.

You cut to size and it sticks like glue!

I've cut a strip about 3 inches long and glued it to the bottom of those heels.

No more slipping!

Now, if I an just walk in them without walking OUT of them

They also sell patches in the drugstore for this, in the foot aisle. I used to put them on every single pair of shoes as a precaution. Works very well, same thing as you're describing but already shaped for the shoe and has an peel and stick adhesive back.. I think Dr. Scholls makes it? Not sure of the brand.

Tried that with these and they just got slicker!

They are cheap shoes and likely will not survive but a few wearings, but, I didn't want to kill myself wearing them the first time out

I suspected something like that was out there. Will have to check for them next time I'm at a bigger store.

Didn't want to drive this morning and the Ace Hardware was the closest place other than the Dollar Store.

Will check there, too.

I use a large 10/penney nail to scratch up the bottom of the shoes.

I use coarse sandpaper on the bottom.Works every time.

@Witchy Woman These are self adhesive non slip pads from amazon. They need to go on new bottoms for max contact.

Brilliant!

I will look for them.

As it turned out, the shoes I intended to wear to this event remained in my closet.

I ended up wearing a closed toe flat

It was at a winery, up a long set of wooden steps with gravel in between. And the road leading from the parking lot was gravel. Once inside, it was a flat surface, but getting there was a bit of a challenge.

I'm not up for navigating gravel, in heels, not to mention the wear and tear on my shoes.

But, these will be perfect for the next time I'm on solid footing!

If an edge should get lose, just put a little Gorilla glue under it with a toothpick.

I know a lot about shoes since my fam had the largest fine shoe store in town for over 60 years. I learned about beautiful leathers (LOVE the smell of leather) and have always loved shoes!

If the shoes are very expensive it is worth taking to cobbler to have the bottom protected and add a non-slip sole protector too.

I step out on our cement patio and dance the Twist. Roughs up the smooth sole, no more slip and its free.
