This spring I purchased a pair of earth origins closed toe nellie sandals . ( I got them at the shoe store where I could try them on). Loved them , so ordered 2 pair in other colors from QVC since I already knew the size I'd need. They sold out so quickly ! I'm sure everyone who got them & loved them bought multiple pairs as you just don't come upon such comfortable closed toe sandals every day. They are practically sold out everywhere. They completely sold out at the shoe store in Venice,fl in a few days. Women crave a PRETTY closed toe sandal. Esp. older women don't usually have pretty toes and many ladies prefer closed toe sandals. Then add on those who need them for their job - and they dissappear quickly . I don't really understand why they make so few PRETTY closed toe sandals.

Yes, if you will wear ugly fisherman shoes that look like mens shoes there are any number of them.I say NO THANK YOU to them.

I agree. Even it they would just modify the SIZE of the toe opening would be good. But so many sandals have theses HUGE toe openings that in a minute you are sliding out the front of the shoes and your toes are resting on the pavement in front of you. That's why we mostly always are forced to buy closed toe sandals. Thank you for posting this problem.

I have had numerous ladies come up to me and compliment these shoes and ask where I got them. The PA at the dermatologist office asked where I got them as she needs closed toe shoes for work and would like another option beside walking shoes.

A289330

I hate wearing shoes and run around in my bare feet at home most of the time. I am in a boat often in the summer and bare feet again for me.

When I am forced to wear footwear, I prefer open toe, open sides...as little material as possible sandals.

i find that closed toe sandals hurt and those peep toe shoes and sandals hurt even more. I also don't like sandals with a back strap..they rub my heels.

I found a pair of Merrell sandals in Marshall's this summer that feel like heaven on my feet. They are my go to shoes for everyday.

Merrerll makes sandals for hiking, but they also make pretty sandals that can be city worn. They offer comfort...lots of comfort and support and the price is right.

i have no need to hide my feet or toes, so no closed shoes of any kind for me.

I have some Keen sandals that have the closed bumper front on them and they are fine for running around town doing errands or working out in the yard in, but not something I'd wear with a skirt or dress and not anywhere I want to look nice like church, doctor's appt, out to eat etc. So far this summer I haven't worn any open toe sandals at all since I got the earth origins shoes, except maybe to throw on some thongs to run to the mailbox.

I personally hate wearing open toe shoes for the very reason noname mentions above - my toes have a habit of oozing out through the opening, making for unattractive and uncomfortable feet. I don't know if it's a problem with my feet or with the shoes, but it's a problem. It's frustrating when all that is shown and advertised are open or peep toe shoes, especially for fall and winter shoes! It used to be that I only saw open/peep toe shoes in the summer months but now it's year round.

I have found many cute closed toe styles at DSW though.

I can do Clarks open toe sandals, if they are flats.

If any open toe sandal has a heel, I feel like I'm always catching myself from running out the front of the shoe.

I have a really cute pair of open toe sandals with a heel but I only wear them when I know I won't do a lot of walking.

@151949 wrote:

@Carmie I think if your feet hurt when your wearing shoes you are probably not buying the correct size. Shoes shouldn't hurt your feet. You should go to a shoe store and have them measure your feet.

@151949 That comment to @Carmie was unkind. You've already posted that you cannot wear open toed sandals because your toes always bleed. That sounds like your toes are hanging over the end of the sandals, which must mean the sandals are too small. Perhaps you should take your own advice and "go to a shoe store and have them measure your feet."

I've never worn closed toed sandals. I LOVE open sandals; own dozens of them. My favorites are the toe-loop, which are basically a Birkenstock footbed with one loop around a toe to hold them on. Yes, my feet do the gripping as I walk (all Birkenstock wearers know that feeling). Beg to differ with your earlier comment in the thread. Some of us, even at 70, do have very pretty feet, ankles and legs!

And I still wear open toe slip-on sandals with wedge heels. No back-straps for me ever. I also find the straps annoying. Nothing is purchased from QVC when it comes to footwear. Give me all leather, inside and out for healthy feet.

ETA: I would never wear a pair of flat plastic thong-type sandals. They are horrible for feet. Barefoot is much healthier.

@BirkiLady I wear Berki's too. I love them. My oldest and very favorite pair are about 20 years old. I have worn them all over the world and even wore them to climb the Wall in China.

My feet hurt if I wear the wrong shoes for me. Everyone's feet are different and we all need different types of shoes. I do best in shoes made in Germany. Finn Comfort s another favorite.

I do not wear plastic, rubber or vegan shoes or even own a pair of sneakers.I need leather, or fabric shoes. Heck, i don't even wear polyester plastic clothing. I am all natural!

Advice for all, if your toes hang off the side of your sandals, the footbed is too narrow. Closed toes shoes just squeeze your toes in there.

It's open toe sandals for me all the way. My feet look just fine, and I love to look down and see my polished nails. I had plantar fasciitis a few years ago, so I'm careful to buy sandals with some arch support. But I've never owned a pair of closed toe sandals and don't intend to start any time soon.
