RED SHOES SCARCE

I love red shoes every season. They're difficult to find and on Q, when a red shoe is shown, they say it's very limited and it is usually the first color to go.

Anyone else love the pop of red in a shoe?

I like red shoes too. If you want a casual flat, Evine is having a clearance on shoes today and they've had some red ones.

My daughter wore ruby red heels on her wedding day.....she was a wizard of oz fan...that was 20 years ago and she still has them!

I love red shoes, they're my favorite color shoes and red is my favorite color .... period.

I have lots of red shoes and wear them often.

@Shanus I have 4-5 pairs of red shoes, all of which I've gotten on Zulily, all name brands. I don't have a problem with fit except I stay away from Spring Step which run very small.

I think you're right about it hard to find red shoes, especially when you are looking for them. Red is a power color and many people who won't wear red clothing will wear red accessories like shoes and bags.

I like red bags, too....not w/ red shoes, too matchy matchy. Love a red bag when the rest of the outfit is neutral and just needs "something".

I have wanted red sandals, and my favorite Hotter sandals, called "Candice" haven't come in red yet.

I have had really good luck using Angelus leather paint and getting the shoes in the color I want!

Angelus paints are available online and only cost a few dollars per color. It takes 2 coats to get good coverage, and dries in about 20 minutes per coat.

I have painted shoes for many years and they hold up beautifully! When my shoes began to get scuffed I would re-do them in the same color to freshen them. Then I tried doing them in other colors instead.

Last summer I wanted yellow sandals and olive green ones. I painted older beige and brown pairs that were looking a bit shabby. This summer I actually purchased 2 pair of navy Hotter sandals when they went on sale, and now I have a red pair and a silver pair!

I made a pair of strappy beige shoes (on clearance) into a multi-colored pair to match a maxi dress. I never would have found matching shoes for this dress. I painted an old leather clutch in one of the colors too.

Angelus sells many colors, and I would recommend buying the color you want. I found it did not work as well to mix colors, although it is mixable paint.

Some of the colors come in GALLON sizes, and I'm thinking about painting my leather sofa! Shoe painting is fun and pretty easy. I don't bother with the cleaners and conditioners they sell. My shoes have been fine with just 2-3 coats of paint!

@Libbylady You sound like my kind of person. I'm forever taking a brand-new object and painting it to match my decor. Usually it's a vase, decorative plate, bowl or candlestick holder. My next project is going to be a big resin horse head sculpture which is mottled brown to look like wood. I'm going to make it vertigris to look like old copper. I have a brand-new dark green bakers rack to which I may give the same finish. I have a pair of tooled teal Alegria shoes that were a little too green to suit me so I sponged on a light coat of a bluer acrylic craft paint. I always use a natural sea sponge. I'll have to look into your Angelus Paints.

What a fun idea! When my daughter was younger, I'd paint designs on her white keds... OOOH! Leather paint....exciting!

@Libbylady I ordered some Ángulus paint from Amazon which came today. I also received a new watch with a turquoise leather strap but I'm not crazy about the color. I thought, hmmm why not paint the ugly strap with the pretty leather paint in turquoise? So that's what I'm going to do. There, now we've got a new use for the leather paint.

@ECBG Some of the Spring Step shoes are really cute, sort of arty looking, but they fit poorly and are very uncomfortable. I hope someone slaps me if I ever buy another pair.
