Like a few others have mentioned, I prefer a tall-ish boot to cover my ankles. I seem to often get caught up in a vine with thorns that rake across the top of my foot or ankles or step in an ant bed and usually don't notice until they are crawling up my leg.

I'm more for comfort than fashion when it comes to the great outdoors.

@Mistreatedbycs

Looking for a pair of shoes similar to garden shoes that I can go in the backyard and play with the dog. Sometimes there's less than grass areas which are mud and yes, I pick up the poo but sometimes I may miss an area and yes, it's on my shoes.

So, is there a comfortable pair of slip ons that are just as I'm describing?

Washable with the hose, carefree care.

I got a pair of mid-calf rain boots from TJ Maxx.com for only $19.99 - they are really cute - grey with owls all over them. When it has rained a lot, my backyard can get muddy in spots - I use them to work outside in the yard - love them - they fit true to size - just slip them on and go. You can rinse them off with a hose.

P.S. - TJMaxx.com also has shorter shoe boots - just search for rain boots. I also pick up poo with them and yes, sometimes don't see it in time before I step on it - ugh!

I have my eye on a pair of sloggers because I have the same situation. Currently, I have a pair of old all leather tennis shoes that I just hose off and a pair of Minnetonka slip on's with a ridged bottom that I rub off on a Don Astlett door mat.

Active Birki clogs by Birkenstock, they make gardening shoes without a liner, but the liners slip out if you need to hose off the other styles of the polyurethane synthetic clogs.

I second Sloggers. I have had a gardening pair for years and they slip on and off easily. You could also look at Crocs too. I have a dog and have to pick up the yard before I do yard work. This past weekend I mowed the lawn in my Sloggers.

Many of the leather Propet shoes are machine washable and could also be hosed off. Last weekend I order two pairs from Zulily, both white and one being a clog and one a loafer style. I wear them in my yard which is coarse sand and gravel. I get it in my shoes if they don't have high sides.
