No, it's just in Clarks that I sometimes need a wide. Other brands are fine in a medium. I think it's my high instep that causes the problem. Once the shoes are on they are roomy but wearable.

Has anyone else noticed that Clarks' wides are really not wide? My feet haven't changed because the Clarks I bought years ago (some worn only occasionally so they're still quite new) still fit perfectly but I've had to return almost all Clarks purchases in the last year or two. The wides are not truly wide.

I usually love all the Clark's shoes and boots that I've purchased over the years. But I bought a pair of Clark's shooties at Penneys a couple months ago, in my usual size and meduim width and they are T-I-G-H-T!

I am going to stretch the width in my unconventional way - I push a couple of hybrid golf clubs into the toe area.

Hey, it works. :-)

If you have a old time shoe cobbler in town take your shoes to them he will stretch out for a day or so on a machine.

I bought a pair of naturalizers and the left fit fine, but, the right wore a blister that I had to keep band aids on. After that I knew I best stay with Clark's. Roomy and no break in time.

I think each person has to find their own brand that conforms to our type of feet and stick with 'em. I wear a 8 wide or 8 1/2 med.

If I have to break in a pair of non Clark's I put on 2 pairs of big thick socks and stretch 'em out that way too.

The fit of Clarks clogs/closed shoes have changed a few years ago. I have many pairs of Clarks clogs from the past. I wear 7 wide. Unfortunately, many of these clogs separated - the top leather from the sole. A couple of years ago, I ordered 2 pairs of leather loafers from ClarksUSA.com - and they ran too long - so I had to return them.

I now realize that I can't order this brand on-line anymore.

I only wear Clarks, Birkenstock/Birki's and Ryka (this brand also went downhill).

Some are true wides, others aren't. Clarks sizing really varies for me- I can wear anything from an 8 1/2 w to a 9 1/2 m ! I read the reviews thoroughly before deciding on my Clarks purchases. Between the initial shipping and the return costs not beiing refunded - it's too much of an investment to take a chance. There are many free shipping sites that offer Clarks but they don't have QVC's style/size choices.

I now have to order a wide width in Clarks. I have older ones in a medium that fit fine but all the newer styles are running narrow on me. Same is true of the styles in our local Clarks store. They carry very few styles in wide so I do appreciate QVC offering so many wide choices.

My feet are a size 6-1/2 wide. If I wear shoes with thin socks/barefoot I buy this size shoe. However, in Clarks I have to size down a half size but the width is too narrow for their wide width shoes. I end up taking them to get stretched.
