what is the difference in the wide to narrow? I'm usually a medium width, but sold out on my regular size and the 6w is available, what's your thoughts on this?

I think it depends on the shoe. I'm right on the border with medium and wide. I can wear medium width but sometimes a manufacturers medium runs narrow and then I have a problem.
