Vionic compared to Alegria

Can someone give me an idea of how the arch support in Alegria sandals compares to the arch support in Vionic sandals?

The molded footbed in the Alegria is much more gentle than that of the Vionic. I have flat feet and the arch support in the Vionic or Birkenstock becomes an instrument of torture poking into the bottom of my foot.

The Alegria arch is not as prominent, is comfortable right out of the box with no break-in period, then it gradually molds to your foot as you wear it.

I must add that Alegrias are a much better constructed shoe. They have a replaceable footbed, and the sturdy uppers seem like they could last a lifetime.

The arch in Alegria shoes is not as pronounced as in Vionics, which has a very pronounced arch support.

In my experience, apples to oranges. They aren't "trying" to be similar.

I have no arches and Vionic is not comfortable on my foot. Much too stiff and high. I can wear Birkenstocks and I have not owned Alegria but have tried them on and they feel comfortable. I am not so sure about that "forward"motion thing though. For me it would take getting used to.

ITA. it all depends upon your *needs.* Vionics are shoes with built-in orthotic footbeds, including a good arch. They are for those who need them. Alegria shoes are just regular, ordinary shoes with no orthotic footbed and no special arch support. They are comfortable for those who have no particular or special orthotic needs. Alegria shoes have never claimed to be orthotic.
