Last year I purchased a pair of Vionics because I had a pain in my heel. I find them to be more money than I would like to spend. I have never worn Clarks and I was wondering if anyone has both Clarks and Vionics and can tell me if there is a difference in the shoe for comfort?

The Vionic has the built in orthotic (arch). I don't believe Clark has that. I have to wear orthotics or a shoe with built in orthotics or my feet pronate and my back goes out.

Clarks can be well made and comfortable but they have no support---not even an arch in them. So, if comfort means support, forget Clarks shoes. Earth brands have comfort and support.

Vionics may cost more but what price is foot pain for you? Look for clearance prices.

While I agree with the comments in this thread, the how comfortable or supportive a shoe feels will range widely amongst individuals. I have foot issues yet Vionic is not as comfortable for me as Clarks. I speak particularly of Clarks Unstructured which do have support features in addition to the spongy comfort built into the footbed. My feel feel fine with Earths brands too.

Unless Cherjoy chooses to limit the options to Clarks or Vionics, and purchasing from QVC, there are dozens of brands comfortable more than both. Some of those brands are in the same price range as both. I suggest a trip to Nordstrom's shoe department which sells Clarks and Vionic along with some of the other brands I am referring to so that you can try on in store. If you don't have a Nordstrom try your local Macy's. You may find something you like and may still be able to buy that brand from QVC if that is your preference (Alegria for example which feel great on my feet).

If the doctor has told you that you need an orthotic then try vionics - the orthotic is built in. If you have an orthotic you need to wear - you will need to wear it in your Clarks. Clarks are very comfortable but if I wear them for a long time my heel will make me pay for it unless it is a shoe I can wear with my orthotic.

I find Alegria to be infinitely more comfortable that either Clark's or Vionic, and if you know where to look they can be found at discounted prices. All of these brands can be found from time to time on Zulily. You have to check daily for their featured items. I believe they have Clark's right now.

Although having a good arch is part of avoiding heel pain (presumably plantar fasciitis), it is the fact that PF is mostly caused by pronation that makes Vionics better than Clarks for people with heel pain and/or PF. The footbed of Vionics is specifically geared to help those who pronate and have PF, not just someone who wants a good arch.

It depends upon what *your* foot issue is, not other peoples who may have completely different needs.

They cost what they cost (though you can often find discounts), but if your heel pain is bad and you don't want it to return, you most likely need to look for shoes designed for PF sufferers.

I do have Clarks and Vionics; neither brand is an orthopedic shoe. Vionic talks a good game but those are just selling points. I do know ladies who say that Vionic sandals actually hurt or are difficult to walk in because of the foot bed. I did not find that to be the case at all. I have several pairs of Vionic thong sandals and two pairs of the mules. The mules work well for my bunions and the thong sandals are cute but not too flat. There is support. I wore and own Clarks but to be honest, I have "retired" my Clarks. They are just a little "fuddy duddy" looking now. I like and need a "comfort she", I just don't want one that screams it to the world. Earth Shoes work well for me too.

I've never worn Clarks, but just ordered the TSV pair. I do like the Vionics but they are pricey, so I heart the ones I like and hope they go on sale. The style I have I wish they would bring back and in more colors.

I have a custom orthotic that I can put into many shoes if I remove their footbed, so I don't worry about that so much. I've never needed to try that with my Vionics and have considered buying just their footbeds to slip into shoes. Theirs don't look as thick as mine. I've been told my custom ones have a rather high arch. I know my doctor held my arch up while I put my foot into the form.

Before getting custom orthotics, my doctor had me try out Montrails I could get at a local shoe store. I did like those and still wear them in my yard work shoes. I was thinking of getting another pair since I can not afford to replace my custom orthotics, but I was reading they had been bought out and were no longer as good.
