NO - they are great for high arches. I have several pair, and am on my feet for 12-14 hours a day on concrete tile floors. My feet are bony, with very high arches. I have little padding anywhere, and these footbeds have kept me comfortable through the long, active days (music specialist in an elem school, K-5th). I never sit down, and I just turned 70! I recommend them - try a pair.

Shoes with arch supports are for those who pronate--ankles turn inward. The arches are built up so they don't fall and let the ankle turn inward. However, most Vionic shoes don't have any support and aren't always available in wide--two things that are vital for most foot problems. Bunions, hammer toes, callouses--all stem from wearing shoes that are too narrow. Heel pain, plantar fasciitis, and metarsal pain are due to lack of support, too narrow toe box, and little or no arch support.

I have flat feet and pronate but I can't wear Vionics. That big lump of an arch is like a boulder in my shoe and very painful. I prefer Alegrias which have a more subtle arch, good support and are much better made. They do come in wides from their company factory store.

It comes and goes for me and I hadn't had trouble with it for years, but right now it's bad. I've been wearing Vionics at home and found it's helped quite a bit. I took a week off my work shoes and wore sneakers to work while I was waiting for some orthotics to arrive. The Vionics reminded me very much of the orthotics I bought the first time I struggled with PF. Now I'm never barefoot at home and the combination of orthotics in my shoes and Vionic sandals at home is working for me. I hate having to use orthotics because it changes the way my shoes fit and means either transferring them from one pair to the next or having multiple pairs of orthotics.

Pegomyheart, I also have high arches; I don't know if I pronate or overpronate or whatever the heck that adorable Liam is always talking about. But Vionics are SO comfortable, and worth every penny, to me. I have five pairs, and wear their flip flops (Tide II?) around the house b/c they're more comfy than going barefoot. (My feet also turn out, as you say? I've always said that I walk like a duck, but yours sounds much nicer.) I only wear them in warm weather months, though, b/c I just don't like any of their shoes..still waiting for the shoes to be as cute as the sandals.

I have an average to probably slightly flat arch and I pronate severely. I can't walk without pain unless I am wearing Vionics.

If your feet do the opposite of pronate (supinate), the shoes will not be good for you.

I have read 50/50 on these forums - half of the people with high arches say Vionics hurt their feet and half say they feel good with high arches. So it has to be more than just the arch. These shoes are made for people who pronate - something that increases with age. If you don't pronate you don't "need" Vionics, but if you're starting to need more support and maybe aren't really aware of that yet, you might be surprised at how comfortable they are.

To say Vionics have "no support" is, IMO, ridiculous. They are all ABOUT support. If it isn't the support *your* foot needs, that doesn't mean the support isn't very much there for others.

No one shoe works well with every single foot.
