A week or so ago, I pulled out one of my several B. Makowsky handbags in the Nutmeg color and I put it on my shoulder and was looking at it in the mirror...and horrors...I saw a water stain on the bottom on the bag coming up about two inches onto the body of the bag...and there was no way that it didn't LOOK like a water stain. I was devastated as I had only used the bag once before. I keep my bags in their protective covers, so I wasn't even sure when it happened... But it had to have happened a couple of months ago.

So,there goes a bag and about $250 bucks...I put it back in its cover bag and put in away with my other purses. I knew I would never use it again. Last night while looking for a lost eyeglass case, I pulled that same handbag out to check whether the glass case was in it and my heart fell again..such a waste...then I got an idea...if I am not ever gonna wear it with this water stain...it won't hurt if I try something...often with stains they will tell you to use "the hair of the dog that bit you" meaning of course go back to the thing that caused the stain. So I went into my bathroom and got a wash cloth with a good nap on it, wet it and rubbed it into the water stain. Now because there was a water stain line...I knew I had to rub until the part of the bag I was rubbing was completely as dark as the stain line...DO NOT USE A LOT OF WATER...simply wet the wash cloth, ring it out and then rub the full area until it becomes the color of the darkest part of the water line. So I rubbed the whole section (the bottom of this purse did have a bottom section defined by a seam...so I stayed within the seam and wet that entire section. I took the bag and hung it over a hanger and hung it up on the shower bar that holds the shower curtain...so that it was not touching anything and crossed my fingers fingers...This morning, I had totally forgotten the whole thing. I walked into the bathroom and was brushing my teeth and the purse caught my eye...I was totally shocked....not a stain anywhere on the purse .You could not tell water touched this purse EVER...it is like a miracle!...Never would I have done this if I wasn't sure I was never carrying this bag again...I don't know what is at work here...Remember this was not like an ink stain....this was just a water stain...but the leather looks fabulous...still soft and gorgeous...hope this helps someone....while I can't guarantee this will happen each time...it is worth a try if you've decided not to wear the bag with the stain.
