How do you store your purses when you aren't using them?

I need some ideas. Some of my older Kathy bags are in plastic storage units in my basement. Then there's the Leather bags of Barkowski or however Bruce spells it and now my newer Vera Bradley bags. Is there a great idea out there, you're using on this issue?

I store some of my Vera Bradley bags flat on a shelf in my walk-in closet (I store my off-season VB bags flat in my cedar chest. I also have some purse hooks that I bought on-line that hang on a rod in my closet, and I hang some of my purses that way. In addition, I bought a Laurie Greiner purse organizer (that hangs on a closet rod) some time ago that has compartments to store purses.

I only have about 6 handbags total, so they just lay on a shelf, in one stack. Got over my purse fetish long ago. It has been replaced by other obsessions, though, so not cured of anything!

I like that popit. I have my bags in storage bins i bought at Target and they are stored behind my bedroom door in the corner. Works well

I have about 8 - 10 or so bags total (way more than I need, to be frank!), and I keep them lined up on a top wire shelf in my closet. I need to get rid of some of them. Most are seldom/never used, and they take up too much space.

I have a friend, in her 80's, who has a very classy purse collection. She "displays" them in her bedroom on coat racks, along with her many scarves. It's a very unique way to show them off instead of hiding them away from view!

Mine are stuffed on a rack under my hanging stuff where they can fall in back and get lost forever. Obviously I need another system. I've found two this year I forgot I even bought.

I have most of them in pillow cases stuffed with paper. I need to go through them and get rid of a bunch as now not working I just do not need 50 handbags.

I don't hang onto bags for a lifetime; if I did, I'd have 1000 bags. I have about 30 that rotate and I store them on the top shelf of the double closet in our bedroom and the double closet in our guest room. I rarely use the dust covers because I love looking at my bags as I go in and out of my closets.

i think doing things like this is great, especially when you have very unique items. you can sit them on an ottoman or on a chair or on a cabinet......i like displaying scarves this way also. it is also fun to buy simple colored pillows and decorate them with pins/brooches that you may have. my mom has even displayed statement necklaces on lampshades.

The few that I currently use are on clothes hangers in my guest closet downstairs. Others are on hangers in my bedroom closet. The ones I rarely, if ever, use are in those hanging cloth handbag holders (the ones with individual sections) or on a shelf.

I store my smaller evening handbags on the top shelf of a linen closet as they don't get used very often if at all. They are in dust bags and they are next to each other like books in a bookcase. I also have a tall and narrow bookcase from a neighbor that moved and I moved it into the downstairs closet after I took out the deteriorating Closet Maid wire unit.

I put the bookcase in the middle of the closet and store handbags which are in dust bags on the shelves and. Again the handbags are stored like books, next to each other. I lay the handbags that are too big to fit in the bookcase shelves on the top of the bookcase. Those bags have stiff handles so that's why they don't fit into the bookcase shelves. I had to redo the closet rods as well and I fastened them to the bookcase sides so the bookcase cannot move without removing the closet poles.

I hang outerwear coats on either side of the bookcase. I store suitcases and storage boxes on the floor of the closet under the hanging outerwear.

I make sure that every bag is either in a dust bag or a clean pillowcase because I don't want there to be any color transfer between handbags.

I have all of my bags in window boxes I bought years ago from my local IKEA. I have them neatly sitting on my top shelf of my walk-in closet. A quick glance up and I can pick and choose my bags with ease. Glad I bought all of these window boxes when I did because I see they no longer sell them. Bummer.

I have a hanging organizer that lets you slip a bag inside a pocket and hang the organizer on your closet rod. I have tried a number of organizers and this one takes up minimum space but is tidy. I had another that clipped the handle with a velcro strap but it looked messy in the closet. You can stuff the bags with tissue if you want them to stay crease-free, or keep them in the dust bags, which the other system didn't let me do.

If you have a large collection, you just buy more than one, and possibly keep the off season purses in your off-season closet or the back space where off season clothes go. Then when you change seasons, you simply swap their position.

That's cool. I don't own a ton of handbags, but like most here, I do need to organize their storage.
