Just carry it, it will soften. However, it is a structured bag.....No puddling. I always use a good leather moisturizer on my bags from the time I get them. A little bit of extra protection can't hurt.

Ladies,

I got the ostrich GILI Roma 2 when it was a TSV prior but I am wondering how I get this bag to soften. I just started using it more regularly and it is stiff! Is there a leather conditioner that has worked for you? Or do I just need to carry it a bunch to get it to feel like a softer leather? I am eyeing the ivory ostrich GILI for this next round but I really do want a softer leather bag. I appreciate any help.

I'll leave the notion of a conditioner to others that know better than I, as I'm not sure that would necessarily make the bag less stiff. I have the medium ostrich that came out before the Roma II and it just had to get broken in. It's more supple now than it was new. I also have the white ostrich in the larger version and for some reason it never was quite as stiff. Good luck and perhaps someone will have some notion of whether or not a leather conditioner will help.

Check the other GILI thread running today about the presale. One poster provided some valuable info/tips. I thought Lisa also said to hang it on a door knob with weighted contents to help it break in.

I really think, though, the main thing that will soften up the leather is wear. I think the only one that sometimes comes a bit stiffer is the natural ostrich.

No leather conditioner will make hard, crunchy bag soft and supple. Leather comes in different grades. Hard and crunchy is cheap leather.

LR stated in her presentation that these new bags in ostrich have been put through an extra process to make the leather softer than the previous version.
