Saffiano leather

There was a handbag on PM Style last night that was Saffiano leather. I had never heard of it before. I was curious so I looked up some info online. Evidently the leather is crosshatched to create a texture that makes it very durable and very easy in terms of care. Some very expensive brands have been using it for years.

I actually bought a bag at TJMaxx a few weeks ago, and I am guessing it is Saffiano leather. When I bought it, I thought it was just a textured vinyl. I think it is an interesting material, because it is so lightweight yet structured. I've only carried mine a few times since I purchased it, so I'm not sure yet if I would buy another in this material. Does anyone else have a handbag in this material? What are your thoughts on Saffiano leather?

I have a real Fendi bag that is Saffiano leather. It was a gift from someone who had more money than morals, if you get my drift. Anyway, I love it. It's very durable, never shows its age. Chanel, high-end Michael Kors use Saffiano leather. I'm looking foreward to some reasonably priced Tig bags using it.

I personally don't care for Saffiano leather - saw a few really nice MK bags at Macy's but really didn't like the texture, because as you said, it doesn't feel or look like genuine leather....Of course, it's my personal preference. Maybe it's more high quality leather and I am clueless....doesn't really matter to me. If I don't like the feel of it, I won't be buying it.

I have a printed Sharif bag that is Saffiano leather. I love the bag but you'd have a hard time convincing someone that it's not vinyl. It looks and feel exactly like plastic; why this is desirable is beyond me.

I bought a Coach Saffiano leather satchel almost 2 years ago from their website because I wanted a small neutral bag for summer. I love it. it's a pretty light tan color that I can wear as a crossbody and the texture gives it a visual interest that makes it look sharp rather than blah.

That being said I can understand why some would not want this material in a large bag as the leather seemed a little ""thin"". I do love the texture though and do not think it looks cheap or fake. Enjoy your purchase!

Wilma, I absolutely love my Saffiano Fendi handbag. It is so lightweight and really holds up. I thought at first it was not leather, but after some research, my Saffiano bag is completely leather. It is just the process they use to develop this leather. I would not hesitate to purchase a Saffiano bag again. Good luck in your decision.

I'm loving Saffiano. I wouldn't want all my bags made of it, bit I've collected a handful and would like to get at least one more in a pretty cognac. As noted, it's lightweight and easy to maintain and I like the texture.

I agree about Saffiano leather. The three bags and wallets I have purchased, I love. I find them durable, easy to take care of and can do the "casual to dressy thing quite well." I have another on order, which will be my traveling purse going across country this summer.

It is good to know your bag has really held up after some time. I try to be careful with my more expensive bags, but I don't baby them. I carried my Saffiano again today. It is very lightweight. I really like that about it. I hate heavy bags, so there may be more Saffiano in my future.

I have THIS one by Emma & Sophia. I got it because of the beautiful color Salmon. When I ordered it I didn't know anything about this brand, but most of the reviews were good. I like both structured and soft bags - I have both. I'm used to structure because I'm a fan of Seatbelt bags. It's very easy to wipe clean, and it's durable, which is important to me!

That is wonderful that you have found the Saffiano a great purchase! I wore mine today, and I never regretted a day that I bought this bag. Yes, mine was very expensive; but it was an investment that I knew I would enjoy for years to come. And, like you....it is very lightweight in comparison to other leathers out there. I forgot to mention that this type of leather and bag really gives me options both day and night....work, dressed down or up. Always classy. Enjoy yours!!!

I purchased my first Saffiano leather from QVC, the Tig tote, and I loved it so much, I've consequently purchased 2 more: a small crossbody from Kate Spade, and a shoulder bag from JCrew. This leather is outstanding. It looks high end and sophisticated, yet you can't do anything to it! I love it! I usually go for distressed bags or cloth because I don't want to hurt the leather, and with this it's no issue! I'm looking for more! :-D

Coach has a line of saffiano leather bags. I don't like the leather. It just feels fake to me even though I know it's real leather.

I have a Sharif saffiano bag I took to Ireland last fall. I spend three weeks traveling on busses with it in the overhead on the floor and generally abused. It still looks brand new but I do understand the vinyl issue. On the other hand I just bought a MK handbag I'm going to have to be very careful with to keep looking nice.
