There is no problem with that. Yes the bag has defect but I dont think the seller was aware of it or sold it knowingly.

I purchase with stock pictures if the seller is seasoned Vera high volume seller for items I do not mind pattern placement or the price is good which justifies pattern placement gamble.

I frequently purchase Vera from chinese ebay sellers which are high-volume sellers with stock pictures who sell at 1/2 or 1/3 of retail including new patterns. So far I had only great experience. The items I did not liked for whatever reason I sold and it is no problems to do if you buy so low. You have exact same gamble when ordering from VB.com, yes you can return it but you pay more than twice for that priviledge.

Hi Zahrah...I have also bought quite a few VB from Chinese sellers and have always been completely happy. I was interested in a Mandy in Canterberry Magenta and loved the placement pattern in the picture shown. It was perfect! Perfect circles, and everything lined up. I emailed the seller to ask her if she had that exact bag. She said yes and I bought it immediately. I haven't seen one so nice in any store. I'm glad you got your issue resolved!

Vera quality issue?

Hi

I have recently purchased a turnlock satchel bag. It arrived and yesterday I had time to take a look at it.

I would like your opinion whether you do think this is normal on Vera bags or it is a defect.

When looking at the front of the bag, the front is just somehow crooked. I dont know how to decribe it, but essentially the top of the flap pocket is not straight. On one side the handle (where the handle attaches to the body of bag) is touching the top of the pocket. On the other side there is about 1 inch space between the top of a pocket and the handle.

So either the pocket and its flap are not sitting straight or the handles are attached to the bag at uneven heights. I sort of think it is both.

Also on the pocket there is this wide decorative stripe running down the flap and continuing on the pocket. Well this is not straight either because as you close the flap the stipe does not line up but it is moved to the side by about 0.5cm on pocket versus on the flap. Something is not straight and causes the above issue.

I hope this description is understandable.

I have other Vera bags which are also not exactly straight and even, maybe that is due to cotton fabric, I dont know. But this is a designer bag not a street no name merchandise.

It bothers me, I would live with the decorative strip slightly not lining up, but not the handle touching pocket on one side and inch higher on other side.

Unfortunatelly I bought this bag on ebay and the seller does not take merchandise back. The only way would be to claim the bag is defective which was not disclosed.

I would like to know your opinions and your experiences with bags not being straight and symetrical and whether you think it is a defect.

I have many Vera bags & mine are all "straight" or even patterned & not crooked in any way. Didn't the seller post photos of the bag? I would not buy any item w/o seeing front/back photos. That would be the time to ask about the patterns, if any flaws in your opinion.

The ebay seller might not accept returns, but you can always file a 'not as described' complaint since the bag doesn't seem like it was sewn correctly. Anything 'off' should be disclosed in the auction.

Which is OK, same as if you buy from VB or QVC, you dont know your pattern placement until you receive it. However, pattern placement is not my problem.

Then I agree that you should file eBay complaint that it was not as described & they didn't post actual product photos. If it bothers you, return it for refund. Even a sale/good price isn't worth it if you are not happy with it. Good luck!

I'm so careful buying Vera items with stock photos on ebay- you can lose so much of the pattern unless it's a large piece. If I buy from Vera's website, I can always take it to my local Vera store for a refund or exchange. Dot com recently had a tech case as a GWP, I received one with the worst pattern placement! The store was happy to exchange it for me.

And I was thinking about bringing this topic for a while to see what others think.

It is like they are cutting out of the fabric at total random. Which might work for some patterns and not so much for others.

I think Vera should care how the pattern is placed, it can make or break the bag, they are designer name and it is attention to little details and perfect execution what makes designer goods stand out and justifies the price point.

As example I really wanted Mandy in one of the Canterberry patterns. But I was not able to find one which would have nice pattern placement as the Canterberry circles are all cut up into pieces and placed at random and it looked just like one big mess.

Last time I got wallet which also had the worst pattern placement ever, all front is just blank space between flowers. Who would want that. if they are producing those they should go to the outlets directly not sold at full retail.

On the other side I like that each product is its own original and there are diffent pattern placement as different people like different pieces of the pattern so i dont mean all peices should be the same, just that more care should be given when fabric is cut.

Especially in the patterns like Canterberry it should be laid out that way that the circles are intact over the seams.

Funny you mention Canterbury- it was a tech case in Canterbury Cobalt! There wasn't a drop of blue on the front, the back of the case had a smidgen of blue on one side. I knew it wasn't going to be a full medallion on the case, but I hoped for at least some symmetry and balance!

I'm so sorry you had such a bad experience(((

OMG! it's very premature to leave negative feedback for the seller!

Is this what ebay has become since sellers can't leave negative feedback for buyers? A buyer isn't happy for whatever reason and you don't even give a seller a chance to make it right before leaving negative feedback? Yes- I had an issue recently with a buyer. Even though my auctions states 'no returns' I accepted her return, made it right ASAP - and she STILL left negative feedback. Give the seller a chance please!

agree, seller is entirely in buyer's power on ebay, so not fair!!!

and some buyers, you just can not please them! it is easier to block them than to transact with them.

I just had someone last week doing bidding war on my item, placing 40 bids!! bidding it up sky high. Then they paid. then 2 hrs later they messaged they do not want the item and they want their money back on their credit card right away and hassled me for days after where their money are eventough I had refunded their paypal payment same day. And you can not even give them negative. Just wonder how many times they had to confrim they actually wanted to purchase my item while they placed 40 bids.

It's very possible you got a "new with defects" bag...these bags are often sold on Ebay from various designers. I would definitely follow the advice of the above posters and file a complaint...I would also leave negative feedback for this seller. I strongly advise everyone not to purchase anything from a stock pic on Ebay...I've actually asked sellers to provide pics of the actual items before I purchased.

I bought a Vera on Ebay last year and it smelled very heavily of perfume. I contacted the seller and asked her if this was in fact a new bag or if perfume had been spilled on it and asked if she would allow me to return it and that I would even exchange if for the same bag since she had another. She was so very nice, she told me it was her fault and to keep the bag and that she would mail me another free of charge and she did despite my protests. She insisted I keep the other bag, instructed me on washing it and was super nice.

I hope this clarifies my previous post!!! I have 100% feedback as a seller and buyer largely due to my communication skills..sorry to all I offended, this was not my intention..with that being said, I unfortunately have been burnt by both both buyers and sellers and since have learned how to navigate Ebay more carefully in both roles...it hasn't happened often, but it does happen. Hope this clears things up! )))
