I received an email yesterday that Coldwater Creek is going out of business and the news is in today's headlines. I not surprised.

I wonder if it has to do with the economy. I don't believe it is improving like some politicians say, so I fear more businesses will close.

Used to be a big fan. Years ago, I used to scour their outlet section online and with their sale combined with coupons, boxes were always on their way. Now they are just a shadow of their former selves. Too bad. Another one bites the dust.

Until a couple years ago, I thought they were a sporting goods company. Obviously I'd never been in one of their stores. I was led astray by the name, sounds outdoorsy.

Same here. I used to love their sales,especially when combined with the outlet prices. The items were nice and cost very little. When quality started to go downhill it wasn't even worth the lower prices and I stopped buying.

Hi There: I feel very sad as I have a few friends who work part-time in the store near me....lots of people will be out-of-work. Have been a shopper with them for years, starting with their catalog....Have some very nice things in my closet from them !

I just put a post in the Viewpoints area about this, but will briefly recap here - my store manager told me that she's been receiving lots of phone calls asking about the jeans, and that she expects they will go quickly. Additionally, they will be receiving new items from the warehouses for a while longer, so if you still like the store, check with your local one - the operation is winding down, but they're a ways off from closing altogether, it seems. (Although this may vary from store to store, I suppose.)

I saw this news a couple of days ago as well...Very sad, but I don't shop there as much as I used to. They do have fantastic sales and I love their jeans, but que sera, sera.

Hi Vamp--ITA-very sad news. I know many loved their clothing. I only owned a couple of pieces from their line. Most of their items didn't fit me well. They did have fantastic sales though. I feel badly for those who are losing their jobs.

Bummer! I am a thrift store shopper and that was one of the brands I would ALWAYS look for. Their clothes are quality and wash well. I think the prices are too high and the economy is still on the rocks. Still, it's always alarming when places close the doors.

I'll miss them. When I first started getting their catalogs,I thought they were different, and I loved their styles. They eventually opened a store in my town....a big one, and I was a loyal customer. Then they moved that store to a smaller space at a nearby mall, and they never seemed to have my size in stock. They would order what I needed and ship it to me...but I like to get what I want on the spot, when I'm out shopping at the mall.

On things like this by the time it's announced all of their inventory (any that's any good) has already been turned over to another company (usually the company that buys them out).

The public always thinks they're getting a good deal, in the mean time they are selling things the other company doesn't want.
