Prices (again)

I realize that QVC is not the low cost option for clothes. However, I have been watching several things on my wish list and all of them are full price right now. The landing page talks about how many clothes are on sale, but to me it doesn’t seem like anything that I like is on sale. and even when things go on sale it seems like it is maybe a 10% discount until the item is out of season. Every retail store from Misook to Talbots to Ann Taylor to Chico‘s is sending me discounts for 20 to 50% off everything they have. those are not low cost options either.

I feel like QVC has lost the plot. Why would I spend $80 for a Jennie Garth blouse when that is an unknown quality to me, when I could spend $50 or $60 for a Talbots blouse that I believe to have more consistent quality?

As I have said, if we think the prices are high now, I think all prices will rise significantly or product will just not be available.

Hubbs calls it 'lag time".

I feel badly that the powers that be at QVC have not gotten the message. Like so many, for my life I have been a sale shopper, or just very cognizant of prices. When I had to, and then when I didn't have to.

I do think the prices at QVC are many times out of line with their competition for what they are. I have access to many retailers - like everyone - through stores and catalogs. There sure is much competition out there, and I have purchased so much from Talbot's, on sale, of course. My DD does the same.
It is just the same designers, over and over, And really not much attention to the petite market. We petites require not only different lengths of pants, but also in length of sleeves.

I can only hope that QVC survives. I have purchased quite a few items over the years, and would miss them so much if they were gone. The upcoming time might well prove to be a make or break for many businesses, so sadly.

It is definitely worth a persons time to shop around. I just don't need anything to be honest. Wearing more of what I have and hanging on to some of those pieces because who knows for sure what prices will do.

I did buy a few pieces from the Q this year. I bought a Belle jacket and worth the price and quality was there. The D&C dress midi length and some sandals. I purchased a few pieces at Kohl's and Penny's too.

I can find things pretty much anywhere around here and my Q purchases have gone way down. Plan on even less and just don't see that much that I can't find elsewhere.

For me I think spending less and no debt is important so I can keep affording what I do need. Keeping myself on a budget has always been my thing anyway.

It is unrealistic to think QVC should lower its prices when everything they are buying is going up to. It's just reality. All businesses are in the business of making money and if costs go up they are passed on to the consumer.

I started shopping in my own closet and I have found I have more than enough of the things I wear the most without wearing the same thing twice for awhile.

it is very tempting to buy something if you're watching these shows all day so every time I am tempted now, I just say do I need another top or pair of jeans when I hardly wear everything I already have.

I always shop around. If I see something here I google it and most times find it cheaper with free shipping. Last Saturday they made big deal about the price of the Sketchers slip on sneakers. I found them $15 cheaper at Macys with free shipping. It always pays to shop around.

Its difficult to justify the prices here, even clearance prices, which to me aren't clearance prices. There are 2 LOGO items I want that are clearance priced at $40 and $50 plus shipping and taxes. I cannot and will not buy them unless they go lower. I've long been a preowned shopper and that is where I will spend my money going forward.

Her clothing is definitely High quality! I’m VERY Happy with the blouses, jeans, sweaters, tshirts, and pants I own. They wash and wear beautifully and still look like brand New ! 🩷

@RescueLover- Good to hear you like the Jennie Garth items. I purchased one top that was fine.

Economics is about supply and demand and not necessarily how much it costs the seller to source something (indirectly, yes, because if the seller can’t sell at cost plus a margin they will stop sourcing and then supply decreases and prices increase, but that takes a while, and there’s no shortage of clothes yet). Durable goods like cars can increase prices now, but not so much for clothing. People are interested in going ahead and getting a car now and paying more because of the risk of a cost increase down the road (and the car should last a while), but not so much for clothing. I don’t think there is an increased demand right now for clothes. We can all wear what we have for the most part and you can bet the style will be different next year, so I don’t see QVC’s current clothing inventory appreciating in value. That’s why a lot of retailers are having sales. Decreased demand and it costs money to store inventory. I’m not seeing items on my QVC wish list selling out.

Prices aren't going to go down here or most places because quite frankly, not everyone has the time to shop around or is on a fixed or limited income.

Retail is evolving more rapidly than ever before and QVC has evolved too. It will never be what it has been in the past and since it has never purported to be the least expensive option, it won't be now.

I will say that a few items on my wish list are pretty deeply discounted right now! I think QVC is calling this their Friends and Family Spring Sale.
