It bothers me that the spiel for this brand is to go down a size. How about just sizing it correctly so that your regular numeric size fits? The pants look too tight on the model showing that she’s down from her regular size.

I've often posted here my one and last experience trying to "fit" NYDJ online....

Bought a pair during Covid that I still can't wear. When I finish taking off my "unwanted" lbs this winter...about 8 more to go...I'll be at my "fighting weight" and see if they fit now. If not, they're getting consigned! Anyway, IF I'd have just bought my normal size 4 that day, instead of "MAKING SURE I SIZE DOWN!! as they drill into you, I'd have been wearing these jeans all this time. For reference they were just a Marilyn straight leg.

@amyb - that was the exact style they happened to be showing. It was the Marilyn straight leg, only with a cuff.

I have never been able to wear this brand. I've tried it a couple of times, just ended up donating expensive jeans that don't fit. Lesson learned.

I look at the sizing chart specific to each jean in NYDJ as I found sometimes you may not wear the same size across the board in various styles in these jeans .

I do not go by the generic QVC sizing chart either .

If you like the style shown this morning with the cuff go to hsn they have IMAN jean as their todays special rivals the nydj under 40.00 I buy her jeans and love them the quality is there give them a try you also buy your usual size

I'm actually the opposite and NYDJ are now the jeans I wear the most. In my experience, if I buy my normal size, they usually fit well but stretch out by the end of the day. If I buy one size down, they're a little too tight when I first put them on but fit perfectly after about 15 minutes and stay that way.

I don't wear anything from any designer with "compression" around the waist. I won't wear Women with Control with the blue tek technology. Can't stand anything fitted around my waist.

I LOVE this brand. Bought the tsv a while back(not the Marilyn--they didn't work for me at all) and loved them so much that I ordered a second pair at full price. I like how they sit AT THE WAIST. Sizing down worked for me on this particular pair. Wish I could recall the item number.

I agree 1000 %. It's just a gimmick, and a gimmick that makes you more unsure, and more confused as you consider what size to buy.

I hate it, and I hate that everything is a gimmick today, or so it seems.

I've encountered it in banking lately, when I have a CD that needs redoing, but you can't get the same interest rate unless you add new money. However, if you go to the trouble of taking OUT the money, leaving the bank, going back in with that same money, it becomes NEW money, and then it qualifies. I asked the bank person, why do we have to play these games?? She agreed it was silly, but it's just the way it is.

Everything today seems like a stupid ploy, a silly game, nothing is straightforward.

Well, I guess I've vented enough on this topic.

I just don't bother buying these jeans anymore, because twice I couldn't guess at the best size for me.

Fortunately for me the jeans fit well. I sized down from a 10 to 8. I have 2 pair but have only worn them twice in over a year so I don't plan on buying anymore. I'm trying to keep my NY resolution to cut back on buying clothes !

I've tried several styles and sizes of NYDJ in stores. Didn't like the looks of any of them on me. I don't particularly care for the size down spiel, but if their jeans are that stretchy I guess it makes sense?

I don't wear any skin tight pants or jeans so all the stretchy bottoms that models squeeze into don't appeal to me. My waist is narrower than my hips so I have to buy up a size in jeans and pants, and either wear a belt or have them tailored. Just dropped off a few pairs at the tailor the other day.
