Does anyone still wear pantyhose?

I would if I still wore skirts but most days I am in pants. I have one long skirt I wear in the summer but I don't wear hose with it as it mostly covers my legs. I still think with a suit it's better to wear hose as it looks more professional.

Absolutely. I certainly do. There are a few legs in the world that look just fine bare, but I suspect the vast majority would be greatly improved with a little sheer fabric covering!!

I have one GD who works for a company that requires stockings/trouser sox/etc. Also a friend - bank employee - who is required to wear them.

If you're very young and your legs are flawless, go for it. Or with shorts, capris,etc. But not in a dress, suit, or anything else dressy.

Not me. I go naked legs in the summer and tights in the winter. Hose is dated in my opinion and I never see it anymore.

I wore some under my pants when it was really cold this winter. No point in buying long underwear, since I live in a place where it's more likely to be over 90 than it is under 40, so it was a cheap and quick solution.

Of course. It is a requirement for a lot of professional women, and women who want their legs to look nice. In a lot of venues and situations naked legs look--well--NAKED. And therefore inappropriate.

I absolutely cannot stand pantyhose. I go barelegged in the summer months and tights in the winter/cooler months.

Except for nuns, I can't think of a single profession that requires pantihose. In my world women with unattractive legs wear pants or longer length skirts. I'm sure somewhere women are still wearing pantihose on a regular basis, I think older, very conservative types. I can't even remember the last time I wore a sheer pantihose. In cold weather I wear opaque tights, a sheer opaque with skirts. Black or deep navy. In spring/summer, I go bare legged. I don't care for self tanners but I do use Jergen's bronzing lotion and that gives my legs color.

I wear them with certain dresses and suits because of varicose veins. I prefer to wear pants and long dresses so that I don't have to wear them.

Absolutely...wearing pantyhose is NOT dated, not matronly, or any of the other negative things that will surely be said here. I often reference my clients, and will here again...they are people who can buy and sell the celebs so many seem to want to cite and follow, very fashionable and lovely (think Kate for comparison purposes). These women...young and old...dress in a finished manner, polished and elegant whether in casual, business or formal attire, and all wear pantyhose with skirts, etc. A bare leg simply doesn't look good. Pantyhose are not hot either...nor are they going to keep you warm in the winter...they are simply a light leg covering that show the wearer to be someone who knows how to dress.

Let me add...you don't have to be a ""conservative"" dresser ( although there is certainly nothing wrong with dressing conservatively...don't know when that got a bad rap!) to wear pantyhose...you just need to be someone who has a slightly less ""it's all about me and what I want...who cares if it's appropriate"" mind set.

I love tights during the winter/fall, but haven't worn pantyhose in ages. They have a place, and I don't think they're a fashion faux pas, I just avoid them.

Haven't worn them since forever (1970s). Never wore them for work. Hate them.

I have nice legs and live in a mild climate. I need them like a hole in the head.

Usually bare-legged but if not, I wear stockings, not panty hose. I hate the elastic band on panty hose so I go with the thigh-high stay up stockings, very comfortable. There are also so many interesting pattered tights right now I will wear those too if the band is comfortable.

Why do pantyhose get such bad press? If you wear tights, it's the same thing...just a different weight, for want of a better word.

No, never.

Pantyhose are insufferably hot in this climate. When it is 110 in the shade, the last thing you want on your body is tight, unbreathable nylon. I remember well almost crying when I had to wear them for work years ago. By the time I would get home from work, they were soaked and stuck to my skin. Not healthy at all.

I wear pants or skirts with boots in the winter and bare legs in the summer. My legs are good and a little self tanner covers any imperfections.

I honestly can't remember the last time I saw anyone under the age of 80 wearing them here in the summer.
