Mary Beth AM Style

Haven't watched Q live in a while (glad I avoided all the same holiday stuff on repeat, this year!)...but tuned into AM style today and happy to see Mary Beth. Like others here, of course I like Leah doing it too...but just noticing

and acknowledging, once again, what a good presenter and host she is.

I get so used to watching hosts that leave out SO many important product details I'm waiting to hear, while prancing and being silly....but I find myself getting all my internal questions addressed this morning.

She's clear about the product info, covers all the details, repeats it beginning/end of presentation...it's all articulated clearly. It just makes a difference and is so important when you're buying online, and not able to see in person, feel, touch something...or ask a salesperson (ARE there any in stores anymore, though? lol)

QVC would be smart to make sure all hosts were trained to do these things, as its one of homeshopping's biggest edges (even over Amazon, which doesn't do this in the same way)...to present and inform...like I said...you don't even get that in stores that much lately, unless it's a small shop.

I am watching Marybeth too. Haven't seen her in forever and she looks great with her short hair style.

And what I wish would happen more often...

a description of how the item "feels".

Maybe they do this after all and I just have not listened for it.

For instance, I have been trying to order BLACK FLEECE CUDDLDUDS PANTS!

Cartie, the QVC ambassador seems to always describe the fabric's hand, but I don't find this often. It would be helpful to hear because, you know...

I agree, Mary Beth is a 'breath of fresh air'. She has always been one of my favorite hosts.

Sad to think she's retiring I think in March. I will miss her and surely QVC will also.

I didn't know she was retiring! I am retiring too in May. I am happy for her but sad to see her leave.

Mary Beth is an excellent host, always was and still is. She thorough in her presentations. I enjoyed spending this a.m. with her.

I enjoy watching Mary Beth. I'm not buying anything for a while but turned on the Q early this morning and noticed she was on and watched her show. She is very detailed about the products. I'm going to miss her

I no longer watch, but I noted MBR was on AM Style this morning so I paused for a few minutes and realized all over again why I USED to watch.

Mary Beth and Kathy L. were the hosts I first saw and always enjoyed no matter what they were presenting for all the reasons you mentioned.

I'm sorry she is leaving, but happy for her. For me, she was the FINAL reason I would pause now and then to remember how much I used to enjoy watching.

I also was pleasantly surprised to see Mary Beth filling in for Leah. She really is exceptional at giving all the details and then some. She is the one host I will really miss. after watching her for 30+ years.

@amyb Unfortunately I believe I've read here that MB is retiring end of year, or very soon.

I am loving her new haircut too - she looks fabulous! Younger too!!!! You go Mary Beth!

Yes, @PINKdogWOOD I did see when she announced it on air several months ago. That's why, in particular, I was enjoying watching her Saturday morning on AM style, and acknowledging how great she is at the actual presenting/selling job. I believe she'll be leaving this March.

She certainly has earned a happy retirement. I read about her somewhere too...I forget where...besides spending more quality time with her grandkids, she's been involved in her church, and, in the past, hosted (I think it was...) foreign students in her home...and other things...so I think she'll be busy with other things in her life.

I agree that presentations can be very valuable when thorough accurate information is given.

Recently bought a Black & Decker rechargeable scrubber with many brush heads. Referred to the QVC video hoping it would be a host and vendor that gave good information. Thankfully it helped.

As you say done properly presentations go beyond information found on sites like Amazon.

Too bad Q doesn't focus on that as in the past.

MBR is a pro and how she is managing her "retirement" is a model to all. Smart move, MBR... knowing when to leave .... when you are on top....Kudos to you, MBR.

Unpopular opinion, I suppose, but I have a hard time watching her. I feel like I'm in a kindergarten class or 100 years old due to her manner of speaking. I know that she's an institution and I respect the good job she has done at the Q; I just don't relate to her.

I got the feeling being MBR's last Q Christmas season which she noted was always her favorite to host, that she covered a lot of main channel shifts just before and immediately following Christmas. I like to imagine that she volunteered to cover for others who still have young children at home and to have her last chance for her favorite holiday hosting season. She was really sweet on all the shows, and seemed to really be enjoying it all, taking it all in if you will. She is a great host and they will miss her calm, genuine, sweet demeanor where she was always professional and detailed. And most importantly, focused on her job, and not herself.

Good luck to you MBR, you will be missed by many including this viewer who is young enough to be your kid, but yet does not relate to the self involved performers and storytellers that are being encouraged and hired at the Q. I enjoyed you, and the small handful that are similar to you that will remain, at least for now.

Love her new haircut. It looks so good on her. Her longer hair aged her and now she looks and acts like she got a feel good shot.
