I just realized that QVC is actually now giving fit advice, but I am wondering how reliable it is.

I copied below "fit" advice from 4 DIFFERENT ITEMS. These appear between the "color" selection boxes and the size selection boxes.

In the past, I had only seen the first type ("What's My Size), which I had never bothered to use because I rely on the garment measurements.

But I just realized that for a Joan Rivers boucle sweater cardigan that I am interested in buying, and based upon the garment measurement looks like it runs small, the FIT designation is "SLIGHTLY BIG". (Cardigans should be roomier than tops, because they go over, and the garment measurements posted for my regular size would have been skin tight.)

For a Logo top that I was about to checkout, and based upon garment measurement looks like it runs big, the FIT designation is "RUNS SMALL".

I also saw the "TRUE TO SIZE" FIT designation on another garment, which didn't register with me, or surprise me, and went unnoticed until I saw the other 2 FIT designations, but I thought I would share all the variations in FIT designations that I have seen.

Have you noticed these fit tips before? Have you found them to be true?

Please help! I'd like to checkout my purchases!

TIA

I just tried it and remembered why I did not think it would be useful. You have to tell them what my size is in other brands. I don't know what size I wear in those. It varies. My size varies because of my body shape. We are not all proportioned the same. I was hoping that like Amazon, they were recommending by my size based on my other purchases. Amazon also uses information collected from returns, which I don't think QVC does. And these are new items anyway. Going by height and weight and age is not going to work for me because I don't have the traditional fit body. Thanks anyway! I think I will go by garment measurements, or maybe I will go by my most common Logo size. I just think the top looked big on all the people that wore it during the presentation, AND the measurements looked bigger than normal on my most common Logo size. But the FIT designation is "RUNS SMALL". 😡😡😡

A658935

So I bought the smaller than usual size, based on garment measurements and despite the FIT advice that it "RUNS SMALL". I remembered I had bought another Logo Lavish item in a smaller size based on garment measurements and it fits me fine. My regular size in that item would have been too big. The back measurement of the item I have is identical to the back measurement in the smaller size of the new top. So going with the smaller than my regular size, disregarding the FIT advice that it "RUNS SMALL". Hopefully it will fit. The item I have and fits me in the smaller size is still available on the Q, and the FIT advice for that item is also that it "RUNS SMALL". But for me, a smaller size fits, so it RUNS BIG.

The thing that is tricky about the new Logo Lavish top is that it has a cotton modal lining underneath an overlay of embroidered eyelet polyester chiffon. Never seen that before in a casual garment, it is very pretty, so I had to buy it. Price today is $65 vs an alleged QVC price of $100. The cotton modal underlay had a smaller chest measurement than I prefer in the size I bought, since I like my clothes loose, but since there is a loose embroidered eyelet polyester chiffon overlay on top, it should be OK. And every other measurement appears to be a good fit. So wish me luck! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

The FIT advice does not seem to work for me, so I will continue to rely on garment measurements until that doesn't work.

Fit guides!!!Another bane to my existence!! I can match almost prefectly to fit guides--then when I get that item--it NEVER fits!!! I range in between med-large--if there was a med 1/2 or a small --large, I would be in hog heaven. I don't order fashion online much and never from here. I did get 3 pairs of capri pants from AMZ in a large----must have been my small-large size--because they fit perfect and the reviews were not that great but they fit me.

However, that can vary within the same garment, one review can state it runs small whereas the very next review says it runs large. If people would just state their body measurements it would be most helpful.

I have discovered within the last couple months I am given my size recommendation on a few items.

Whenever I get a purchase where I love the fit, I go to the "click here" size guide and write down the measurements that work for me. Whenever I see something I'm interested in, I always look at that guide to see if they'll work for me. That's one reason I purchase from QVC, I've seen no other online companies that do this. I'll stick with this as long as it works. This guide is a make or break for me since QVC's sizing can be all over the place. I do know that "skinny jeans" will never work for me since I carry my weight in the hips/legs. Joan Rivers clothes are always very much oversized so I always can tell if I need my regular medium size or go down to small. I find it the most helpful guide for me.

So I bought one size down from my regular size based on garment measurements and disregarding the fit designation that it "RUNS SMALL", and the top, one size down, fits me perfectly!

A658935

That is because my shoulders are on the small side of my size, but for those of you that are busty, I recommend stay true to size. The top has a lining, and the lining just fits my bust, so if I was bustier, it would have stretched the lining, which would be noticeable through the translucent organza top that would have probably still fit, but would not be a good look IMO.

The top is very pretty.

I do feel misled by the presentation. The shoulders and back yoke are cotton/modal, and Amy said something that I took to mean that the lining was the same cotton/modal (not rewatching, but I think she said something like "there is a whole t-shirt underneath" while pointing out the cotton/modal accents), which I thought would make the fact that the organza layer is 100% poly ok with me.

In fact, the lining is nothing like the cotton/modal accents. It is 100% poly that feels like stretchy poly lingerie. I don't buy 100% poly tops any more, and most likely I wouldn't have bought the top if I had known that. The description does state "lining 100% polyester", but it is confusing since the organza top is also 100% poly, which I knew, and I have seen confusing and erroneous material descriptions in the QVC website in the past.

The top is pretty, it is loose, so I may keep it. But feeling misled. It is in the short side, which is a good thing for shorty me.

I always check garment measurements first. Love that the Q has those for clothing items. Then, I check to see the fit of the garment in the description. Works for me most of the time.

I don't think I need a fit guide suggesting what my best fit would be. I've seen those on other sites, and they don't really help me. What helps me most is garment measurements and previous brand experience.

Have a Great Week!

I always use the "specific garment measurements" information. When they give the model's height as a guide to size, that doesn't do anything for me, and is useless. I need waist size, and bust size to determine if the item will fit me. I never rely on the slide bar feature, and, if you read the reviews, for the same item, some say it runs large, and some say it runs small. If QVC gets rid of the specific garment measurement, I guess I'll save money because I won't buy! lol
