Breakfast Atire

We are staying at a hotel while our home is renovated, breakfast is included, hubby and I always wear clothes to breakfast usually sweats. I am so surprised what some people wear. I have seen people in PJS and robes. Is this and acceptable way to dress these days? Thanks all

I have also seen PJ's and robes worn in hotels that provide a continental breakfast in the lobby. To be clear, I'm talking about budget hotels, not high end ones. Still, I think street clothes should be worn, even if you're just having cereal and coffee in a public area.

Just for clarification we are not in a motel 6, we are at an upscale boutique hotel

Also, hang out at a casino hotel restaurant that serves a full breakfast. At least the customers & families are wearing matching PJ's.

I myself love ROOM SERVICE breakfast.

Apparently it is for some people. You always see some people treating the breakfast buffet like it's breakfast in their kitchen. Classless and uncivilized people. Most people know better.

As long as people are decently covered, what difference does it make? After all, it's their home away from home and that's what they'd do at their house.

I still get dressed even if it's the hotel complimentary breakfast. MAYBE, I would wear yoga pants if I was just grabbing a coffee, but I would be dressed if I was eating there. I would not be there in PJs or a robe.

Apparently the casual attire is okay with the hotel. Depending on the sweats, I don't see that they are necessarily better. 🤷‍♀️

Some people consider sweats to be interchangeable with bedroom, overtly casual clothing. PJ's, robes, sweats? Really little difference.😉

@I am still oxox My opinion for what it's worth. Sweats are fine, pj's are not. Keep pj's in private.

Usually when I travel anywhere now, it's with a friend, as my DH no longer likes to go too far from home.

However, whenever I stay at a hotel (whatever star rating) with a friend or my DH, we always get dressed before going down to breakfast.

I have no intention of appearing in public anywhere in my pajamas; not even for breakfast in a hotel. It doesn't take that much effort to get dressed.

Personally, I see little difference between the two. But then again, when I am on vacation, I pay attention to my husband and am not very interested in what people wear to breakfast.😉

I would say," don't sweat the small stuff." Times have changed since Covid and people care less about appearance it seems. Personally, I would never go for breakfast in PJ's or lounge wear but people can do whatever they want. There are no rules.

i just don't notice this stuff anymore.

i seem to be focused on myself and who i am with.

happy to be physically able to get out and about

happy to be able to enjoy time with friend/loved one

happy to be able to fund such outings

what some stranger wears or how they wear it is not in my judgement zone. i guess my people watching days are over.

When I mentioned sweats I did not mean "work out"

clothing but rather clothing I would wear to the store, run errands etc. I see a huge difference between sweats and pj's, robes, and in stuff I sleep in.

We rarely stay in hotels but it became necessary back in January when we had some major plumbing work done. Yes, I saw one lady in her robe/slippers at breakfast. She seemed clean and her "outfit" was presentable. In other words, she didn't look like she just rolled out of bed. No one sees me in public unless I'm dressed for the day.
