Packing Cubes- Husband Rant

When I was in rehab after my broken hip in Jan 2023 my hubby decided to reorganize my dresser and as a result my packing cubes have gone missing, he does not have a clue where they are. Well Amazon to the resuce. I am furious with him for touching my stuff to begin with. End of Rant

I would be very annoyed too!

Honestly, my husband knows better than to ever reorganize my personal things....he wouldn't even reorganize stuff in the kitchen!

ETA: I'm curious.....what do you plan on doing there at the hotel in Syosett besides going to the pool? Are there any interesting things to see & do in the area?

Many years ago my DH would go up to Syosett from where we living in NJ at the time every other week. He had to stay over but I wasn't familiar with the area. He also had to go out to California every few weeks back then too.

I bought myself a nice brand new set of luggage last year. However, I have never bought or used packing cubes. They sound like something I'd need if they really help you to get more things into a carry on though lol. I might try some.😃

@cheriere : I have used them for years. Why I like them is because I can sort out every category and put into one cube.......underwear, pj's, casual wear, shoes, makeup, dress up clothes. It also means that my clothing is not jumbled up when I open my suitcase. I think it really does save space for me. Try them!!!

Thanks for letting me know how good they work. I could definitely do with the organizational aspects too. I should get a couple sets to start or I'll end up wishing I'd purchased another lol. I may wait to see if we have another free shipping day in the near future.

I have a quite a collection of packing cubes and packing envelopes. Mine are over 25 years old.

I store them in my suitcase.

Husband reorganized a dresser? My husband never even organized his own dresser let alone mine.

I bought my packing cubes at ebags. They last forever and the prices are wonderful. I looked to see if they still sell them. They do and the prices are so low, they are almost free. They are 50% off, plus another 10% discount.

@I am still oxox I'm sorry about the missing packing cubes- I wonder where they are? Could they be folded under the bed in that same room or put in storage in the garage? I'm glad that you were able to get new packing cubes.

@cheriere Good for you for getting a brand new luggage set! I got one too last year- I got a vera bradley duffle bag on sale with a ton of sea turtles on it for a trip to San Diego. Before the 2023 trip to San Diego, I hadn't been on vacation since I was a kid - I always have liked to do affordable local things growing up- mini golf, bowling or county fairs. Do some packing cubes still rely on a vacuum to makes the clothes pressed down for storage? I remember the 90's infomercials with the big vacuum cleaner hooked up to packing cubes. Here's my Vera Bradley sea turtles duffle bag I got on clearance- that's my luggage for if I ever need to travel again someday. . Enjoy your travels!

@I am still oxox Interesting! I hope that they turn up someday soon when you least expect it . Thankfully, Amazon came to the rescue and now you have new packing cubes. They're really useful! I remember I used one in college for a comforter set that I had for my bed.

I love your Vera Bradley duffle! Something like that is what I should've got for myself. I hardly ever take an actual vacation either lol. I don't know why I bought a fancy luggage set...like I ever go anywhere.😂 I thought I might go visit my friend in North Carolina and would need a nice suitcase for that. But, really she wouldn't care if I packed a Hefty bag as long as I came.

I remember those packing bags too. N fact, I'm pretty sure my moms still got a set under her bed lol. The vacuum had to suck out all the air lol.😂

I suggest getting the compression cubes. I prefer them to the regular as they really lay flat.

Amazon has great prices on them.

I got a set from QVC that I like. May get another set as they are on "as is" pricing. Waiting for the next free shipping day.

I still use those bags where you suck out the air with a vacuum. I pack away all my cashmere and wool clothes in them at season' end. Never had any moth eaten clothes using them and with the air out of them they are completely flat and take up so little space.

@cheriere Thank you! The sea turtles on the duffle bag really make me happy! I think your buying a fancy luggage set even though you don't vacation a lot is so relateable- I feel and would probably do the same exact thing! Your gal pal would love your visit to North Carolina whether your clothes were in a hefty or a fancy luggage set- as long as you're there, that's what's most important! Impulse buys are always a great story to tell. Here's mine: I've watched the movie Pretty Woman atleast 20 times- I'm obsessed with that story of the beautful, smart down on her luck girl trying to get by and being rescued by the rich executive and turning the agreement of accepting her services into a long term dream love! Anyways, one day I rewatched that movie and thought, "I want thigh high leather boots with a stiletto heel just like Julia Roberts' character!" .

I looked all over online for days and days- it doesn't even matter if I have nowhere to wear them- I needed them! I bought them on sale and they came in the mail and I waited days to even try them on to build up the excitement and then when I finally put them on my short little legs on my 4'11" frame- they looked like fishing wader boots that someone would get at Bass Pro Shops ! I looked like puss-in-boots . I held onto those thigh high boots for 10 years in my closet never wearing them- hoping I'd somehow get taller or someday look hot in them and I ultimately donated them to the Good Will!

The vacuum packing bags were so much fun- I'd always sit on the bag as the air was going out to see how flat I could get the clothing inside .

@Biftu Those vacuum bags are perfect for cashmere sweaters! That is such a great idea- especially since a moth tried to eat one of my sweaters the other day. Moths have good taste, that's for sure .

I can't believe THIS is the first I'm hearing of the Pretty Woman thigh high boots purchase lol! I love it! i tend to put myself in movies I love too, wanting to emulate something the character has or does lol!

Bass Pro Shops and puss-in-boots lol! You're too funny! I wouldn't have stopped to think about them being too long either lol. I'll bet all kinds of women that's bought those kind of boots have been unable to wear them because they're too high! I'd have probably hung on to them for ten years too lol. Heck, I do that with stuff all the time not near as cool as thigh high boots! Those are definitely worthy of hanging on to awhile! But I'll bet you Still looked hot in them!

I would've probably bought myself some too right after first watching the movie if there would've been internet shopping in the early 90s! 😃
