Happy St. Patrick's Day!

So far this weekend has been extremely quiet. It has been cooler than normal the past few days, and it was only in the mid-30's when I woke up. At least it is sunny.

I was able to do some decluttering, cooking, and cleaning yesterday. Just shaking my head about some of the things that were in my bathroom cabinets. I have have a very bad habit of "moving on" from one cream/soap/shampoo, etc. to another without using up or throwing out the remains of the old one.

I took a little time out to go to the donation center -- a space heater that works fine but I don't need.

Hi Everyone!

HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY !

It's sunny and cold today. It rained during the night and was cold. If the forecast is accurate then cold weather will remain for the week. Our ground is still wet in some areas from all the rainfall but the grass is filling in nicely. The hubby went to the neighborhood hardware store to get a bag of "weed & feed". It was double the price of last year. Even he was in "sticker shock". Hopefully, the bag will last us all season.

It was warm enough in the afternoon that I bathed both dogs. They look great and don't mind the shower. They each like a differenct temp of water. Of course, today I'm so stiff and soar from bending and stretching over them. The shower stall is larage but once you get a person and a German Shepherd in there you are wall to wall dog. LOL

LindaLatte---Sounds like you had another busy Saturday. I wish we had a donation center in our area. Ours closed before covid. Now I just find a spot in the spare room and collect the items for the Veteran s pick up dates. I still have more I want to declutter from the holiday storage room and the cedar closet. It never seems to end but it's slowly moving along. .

Linda L., Fressa, & others. Happy St. Patrick's Day to all of you. Since both of our Mom's are/were English, we never celebrated it. Now I enjoy a few green carnations, a pot of Gold and a couple of Leprechauns.

We had a very nice 54th wedding anniversary for a few days. Other than a morning of rain on Thursday, we had good weather. I cherish my husband more each & every day. You will see why a couple of paragraphs down.

It was nice to get back home on Friday afternoon and going out with friends for a Friday night fish fry.

We woke up to see our neighbors roof covered with a bit of snow & a few pellets on our lawn. Yesterday, I put my last two Snowmen away for the season.🤔🤔🤔. It's cold, but sunny today and tomorrow. Then 50's. for a few days.

It was a sad time for our church this morning. Our Pastor's bil & his wife (she is a sister to our Pastor's wife) went to get groceries on Friday night and their weekly dinner out. When they got back home, he went up stairs to get ready for bed and came back down stairs 30 minutes later and said he had pain in his arm and couldn't breathe. They live in a small IL town with no medical services, so she drove him to the hospital. He was able to walk in, but before they could get the EKG hooked up he went in cardiac arrest and could not be resuscitated.

One of their two sons was in FL on vacation and flew back home. Our Pastor is 51years old and this guy is younger. My heart & prayers go out to all of them.

Yesterday morning, we went to a good breakfast put on by one of our assisted living places. Easter Bunny & all. Then in the afternoon, we went to the 95th birthday party for my dh's first boss at Frito Lay. He has no wrinkles, his memory is sharp & he has no grey hair. Although we haven't seen him in a long time, he knew right away whom my dh was.

After church, lunch was at Culver's. They have the best roast beef sandwich. Hot tubbed when we got back home and then I hung up a load of laundry in the basement.

Having a lazy afternoon. Euchre tomorrow after lunch.

Bird Mama, thanks for reminding me that we still have a wine cooler to drink when we are in the hot tub We only do this twice a year. NYE & our anniversary. Might do it on Tuesday when it's warmer and sunny again.

Fressa, so far the only nail polish that I don't like on my finger nails is the lilac one. It's fine on my toes. Not bad as I do like 3 out of 4. I have 2 more to try out. It doesn't take much to entertain me!

Here lately I've been watching HSN. They got me yesterday - I ordered their patio umbrella in the khaki pattern.

The have a solar lamp that I am considering today, lol.

The weather was psycho yesterday afternoon. It was sunny and snowing up a storm at the same time.

It's almost 4:30 pm and it just hit 32 degrees.

Good Evening! Glad you had such a nice anniversary trip, Glenda. Sorry about your pastor's BIL.

I liked that umbrella, Bernie. Unfortunately, I found that umbrella's like that one just don't work well here in southern Arizona. The weather is often way too hot or windy here.

Glad you were able to bathe the dogs, Fressa. Seems like the weather is going crazy in quite a few areas of the country. It was only 35 when I got up this morning, so again I did an exercise DVD rather than take a walk. It made it up to 73 degrees later.

"My" hospice patient was sleepy and a bit confused today, but we had a nice visit. She really liked the little Easter basket and bunny I brought, and the piece of candy I gave her.

There was plenty of work to keep me busy at the hospice office this afternoon, so I didn't have a chance to take a late afternoon walk. Oh well....

My DD and SIL made it back to NC late afternoon, and they had a fairly long drive to their home in SC. I am waiting to hear more about their visit with my DGS, his wife, and their twin grandchildren.

Jean went to the orthopedist today and said that she will be returning in three weeks. I think all is going pretty well.

Sounds like yourDD and SIL had a very long drive but what a great time with the twins.

Our weather has been the same bit of crazy here as well. Yesterday was very cold and snow flurries were appearing in the afternoon. Nightime had wind gusts and snow was sticking to the grass. It's still cold but the sow has melted since the sun is out. The daffodils have fallen over from the weather snap. The crocus gave up weeks ago. So far the hyacinyhs are still standing the front porch garden.

The turkeys are back. Last night I had a large female turkey on the front porch pecking at the glass window. The herd is large. The seem to have a "summer place" in the woods.

Happy First Day of Spring, not that you'd know it where I live It was gloomy and windy and snow is expected tomorrow. My silver maple is full of buds and I'm hoping the cold snap doesn't interfere too much with it's progress.

I held off on the solar lamp and will see how it goes with the patio umbrella. I've never owned a patio umbrella before and I felt like trying something new.

The HSN patio umbrella caught my eye. The breeze thru fabrc works well on the patio with wind situations. The ones I've had just had that feature around the top where the pole fits. It just looks like a little ruffle. I liked the double sided fabric as well. Hope you are pleased with it.

Good Afternoon/Evening! Our weather is cooler than normal, but is supposed to get warmer tomorrow through Saturday, but then turn cooler with a chance of rain starting on Sunday. Plenty of ups and downs in the weather in many areas.

I don't know any details, but Jean posted in FB that she was in one medical facility and headed to another. Then, it changed to a different hospital. I'm concerned about her, and will keep you posted.

Unfortunately, some of the volunteers were out sick (stomach virus) at the senior lunch program yesterday. But, there was a good-sized crowd. The new commercial refrigerator arrived just as I was leaving -- that is a good thing.

Today I attended a hospice volunteer meeting and went to two grocery stores and Walmart after I had lunch. There were a few bargains, but not many. I noticed the price of gasoline has gone up 13 cents since Sunday. I have read that gasoline prices are up all over.

DD and my SIL made it home late Monday, and he had dental surgery on Tuesday. She said he had seven straight hours of hiccups, and it turns out that hiccups are a recognized side effect of codeine. So, he has gone off codeine.

Meanwhile, my second DGS (who purchased a very old house about a year ago) has a major plumbing issues. He needs quite a bit of pipe replacement (perhaps the whole house?) No fun. I plan to give him some money toward the job. Home ownership can certainly be expensive.

Hi Everyone!

Today is sunny and cold.Yesterday was a mix of everything with high wind gusts. UGH! I hope this crazy weather front is done for us alll.

This morning I had 4 female turkeys on the front porch. These birds are large. I'm surprised that they had no problem stepping on the Don Aslett rug. That's deterred some of the other creatures.

Linda Latte-Good to hear that the new refrig/freezer finally arrived. What a relief.

I will keep Jean in my prayers.

Plumbing problems in an older home is an expensive problem. It can make your head spin. They are fortunate to have you.

Our gas prices seem to stuck on $3.89 a gallon. Once in awhile we get a week when it dips to $3.69 but no for long. It just makes m head spin.

Yesterday I received a letter from Subaru about a "battery/electronic issue" in the Crosstrek. This caused the battery to drain which explains the problem I was having. I have sinced replaced the battery but will have it checked with the next service. It didn't give too many specifics but indicated that if you had replaced the battery you should be fine. then a reminder about the extended warranty being revised and the price to add on the years that they cancelled. How aggravatng is that? They quoted that labor charges are $150 per hour! I think that's double of what it was last year.

Linda - Please keep us informed about Jean, I do hope this is nothing serious. Glad to hear the new refrigerator has arrived, I am sure that is a big relief to all of you. Glad the dental surgery went well, I never heard of hiccups being a side effect, guess that is better than nausua.

Sorry to hear about DGS plumbing problems, they are expensive and messy. Hopefully they won't have to tear up too many walls. There is a thing around my area in Ryan homes - the copper pipes spring pin holes in them and you usually find out the hard way. One day the furnace guy told us we had water coming out the basement ceiling (this was in our old house). We usually did not go in the basement until Fridays to wash clothes. Thank goodness the plumber came and fixed it with out destroying our walls.

Fressa - Hope your car doesn't have a problem. Car labor is very expensive, I think you need a degre from MIT to work on a car anymore.

Bernie - I like the umberlla, we had one at the old house and loved it. It gave nice shade when you sat a the pool. I do like the color.

Glenda - Sorry to hear about the Pastor's BIL - So sad for so many people. Happy Belated Anniversary!

Not much happening around here, I have been spring house cleaning. I am about 3/4 of the way done in the house. Once I have finished cleaning I will start to dig into closets, drawers and what not. I could not do it while I was cleaning or I would have just gave up on cleaning. So wish me luck. Hopefully, I can get most of this done before the weather get warm, I will not want to be in the house once the weather gets nice. We had a few days in the 70's and now it is 35 out. Mother Nature rules.

Interesting about the turkeys, Fressa. There is quite a flock in the park not too far away from my house. But, I have never seen any in the neighborhood. Hope your Subaru will be okay with the new battery. Quite a sales tactic about the warranty. I got one with my microwave and refrigerator, but keep getting notices from the manufacturer about buying one from them.

Nice to see you posting, Susan. You are certainly making progress with your Spring cleaning. I would not like your weather. It was very nice here today.

I went to the gym this morning and then had an OLLI Zoom class about Egyptian history this afternoon.

The Clark's sandals that I had ordered from Amazon didn't work for me -- the straps cut into my heels. So, I took them to UPS after class and Amazon has already credited me with a return. I went ahead and ordered sandals that I know fit (I have them in black and will be getting the navy). A few dollars more expensive, but..... I wear sandals quite a bit since we have warm/hot weather for many months.

I'm sorry to read that Jean is experiencing a setback in her health. She's been 'through it' over the past couple of years.

Glad the fridge arrived Linda. Your turkeys are pushy Fressa.

I received my patio umbrella yesterday and will be going outside in a little while to shovel the snow that has fallen and accumulated. This is why most Michigan residents don't get excited about planting much of anything until Memorial Day - our weather is too crazy.

Linda L, thanks for the update on Jean. Yes, home repairs can get expensive on homes. In our experience, I think the plumbing is the most expensive.

Fressa, Turkey's are mean! One of my bil's hunts them & has had a few battles.

Bird Mama, good looking umbrella. We used to have one on our cement patio until we got our hot tub. Now there is no room for one. I also like the solar lamp.

Susan, good job with your decluttering. I do it quite often. I will be doing my spring clothes in a few weeks.

We are getting a good snowstorm this morning. We are in a drought so it's welcome.

It's been a busy week around here. Monday was euchre & it was a lot of fun.

Tuesday was a free day, so I went to the gym. Dh was recuperating from a cold, & I was avoiding him for a few days. He is feeling better now.

I had PT on Wednesday morning and we went to play BINGO with my mil in the afternoon. She was happy to see us and we won a few prizes.

Yesterday, I had an eye appt. in the morning and tripped on the side walk and ended up on all fours. It's a good thing that I had on my thick faux leather pants and thick gloves. I bounced back up, but did lose a bit of skin on my right knee. No blood. My shoes have kind of a high sole/tread for winter and I don't think I picked my foot up high enough. Ouch.

Then in the afternoon, we both had our 6 months dental checkups. I am good to go & my dh just has to get a small filling in the back. When we got to dentist, I felt some swelling in my right knee, so I have been icing it.

It's still quite sore so I am going to take it easy for a few days. We were supposed to play FLIPPO this afternoon, but the schools & our senior center are closed today. Spring break started a few days early.

We are going to a funeral in town tomorrow. It was one of three that we could have gone to. Your prayers & thoughts for our pastor's family are welcome. It's a difficult time for all of them in a lot of different ways. The wife feels guilty for driving him to the ER instead of calling an ambulance. They are 13 miles away from the Hospital, but there is no medical help in there their town. There is a go fund me to cover the funeral expenses. He was 50 years old.
