I went to tankinis about 10 yrs. ago. There's nothing worse than going to the lady's room and trying to pull up or down a wet one piece suit.

Totally @Shanus !! Thank goodness there are more practical swimsuit options now, with better coverage!!
I remember our local swimming pool growing up. If you followed any woman up the pool ladder, yikes, let's just say, yikes.... 🙄 Thank goodness for shorts.

@Shanus I always wear a two piece suit. My mom still does too. One piece suits just never fit my body right. I always thought it's because I'm tall. They always pull in the wrong places.😟

I like tankinis also because you can buy separate sizes for your top (I am small busted and with built in cups you can be "swimming" in the suit before you even hit the water) but the lower half I need a larger size. Also, not many cute one piece suits come in long torso options, and that is a pet peeve (talk about pulling up and down😒).

Ok, in simple terms: You simply pull the crotch aside to do #1. If you have a quality suit you do not need to worry about damaging the elastic.

Also, most women never get wet at the beach or outdoor pool, so using the bathroom when wearing a wet suit is not an issue. Tankinis are great if you stand still, but tend to show more than they should when you sit or move.

Ok, how are a of you pulling down a one-piece bathing suit??i don't wear tankinis, too old lady for my taste. I have, and never had a hard time pulling off my wet one-piece suit.

I remember my grandmother that ran a store told me they pulled girdles aside when as an 8 year old I asked.

Long line girdles were fearsome things!

@ID2 I think Tankinis are quite cute and not "old lady" at all. While pulling down a one piece is not that hard, pulling it back up can be a challenge. We have a swimming pool, so I have tried all types of swimsuits, and I prefer a tankini top with a swim short. There is enough coverage, nothing is "floating" around when I am in the pool (like a swim skirt), and going to the bathroom is easy.

@ID2 Are you talking about the ones shown on Q? If so, I tend to agree w/you. Most of the tankinis sold in retail stores are more on the athletic looking side. None of that stuff that makes you look like a watery flower garden.

Most of my tankinis are Nike short sleeved front zippered rash guard tops w/support & mid theigh & just above knee/shorts bottoms.

I wish Q sold "rash guard" tops.

My tankinis are mostly from Landsend...when on sale. I like the ones with spf protection for chest and arms. Yes, the long sleeved tops get warm to wear, but then less area to "shmear" with sunscreen.

I like swim items that come with swim shorts. I believe one was offered today......maybe SG's line.

I'll have to take a look back to find that item.

No worries about 'anything' when swimming in a pool, and then going up and down pool steps/ladders.

I like excellent 'coverage', and always looking for briefs with the most coverage front and back.

I just wear a one piece. I was on the swim team in high school and college. We always wore those thin one piece, though some wore the wet suite leggings. I did. And a swim cap of course. That makes you more buoyant in the water. I was always in the water. Starting at the community pool when I was 8.

I hate shaving bikini area and thigh area so I'm always on the lookout for shorts, dress, or skirt styles for pool exercise classes.
