Clothing Stores You Wish Your Town Had

Are there stores you like but don't have in your town?

Some of my list are an hour and a half away and not convenient to get to and they're also smaller.

Nordstroms

Macy's

Banana Republic

I have the same problem. One of the stores I wish was in my area is Chico's.

Well since mine only has a TJ Maxx and a Kohl's that would be a long list. Saves me money though. My favorite Marshalls/Home Goods combo store is in a neighboring town.

I shop there and online for bargains.

Nope, several Macys, Nordstroms, etc. Not lacking for any retail stores.

Well, Philly is blessed to be near a number of malls, including the third largest in the country, King of Prussia.

I can shop in many great department stores there, and right now I love looking at all the prom gown displays in Macy's, Bloomies, Nordstrom's, and even Neiman Marcus! There are tons of boutique shops in the mall also, like Johnny Was.

Nearby stores in other malls include JC Penney and Boscov's, and we have a Saks Fifth Avenue in the area as well.

Of course I love shopping on the Q for casual clothes.

No, I do not worry about more stores--I just admit my closets are rather full, and I really need nothing!

I most recently bought this dress from NM on final clearance sale just because it was so stunning!! Maybe I will be invited to a fancy New Year's Eve party and I can wear it.

I have practically every store in existence here in NYC. However I do almost 100% of my shopping online. A lifetime in retail has done that to me. 😹

I wish a HomeGoods store were nearby. The one here in Chicago is a good distance from me and no easy way to get there--don't have a car.

We've got almost everything here & most in multiples but I rarely shop in stores at all anymore. Prefer online. Seems like stores & malls are going extinct anymore not expanding.

have never liked shopping in stores and I can find anything I want online as stores just about all have an online presencel!

I live in a relatively small, quaint town...though, getting more and more developed over the 25+ years I'm here...but some of the big stores wouldn't fit...but closer by would be nice..

Yes, to Nordstroms too ~ our closest one is about 50 minutes from here, and in a highly trafficked, crowded mall. There is a gorgeous one in a new, very modern mall, 50 minutes in the other direction too. Only went once during Covid to pick up my new iPad in the Apple store there...I don't usually say this about malls, but what a gorgeous mall and Nordy's. Funny, to build this new modern mall in an era when malls seem to be going away. But this is a trendy, redeveloped area of CT where a lot of young professionals love to shop, eat, drink, socialize.

I too miss Macy's....I believe the one that used to be 40 min from here, that I'd go to, has closed or is dead, as is the mall it's attached to. Sad. Was "alive" only 4 years ago. Even 2 years ago was better than now...now it's in the news lately as to "what it's fate is."

Not just "clothing" but a Target...our Walmart closed, almost 2 yrs ago & fingers crossed we're supposed to get a Target there. That's what I'd wanted in the first place when Walmart went in.

Our Bed Bath & Beyond closed too last year, and TJ Maxx (maybe with a HomeGoods too) is supposed to be going in there. I've always preferred Marshall's but TJ's is cool too.

We have stores like Banana R. which I too like and LOFT, but only the outlets nearby. Regular BR and LOFT aren't too far from me, about 3 towns over and 25 min.

That's about it. I like some of our small clothing boutiques that are in my town and neighboring ones. I've started to shop those more again, like I used to.

Nope. If I can't find a certain store within 5 miles of my house I don't need it. The only thing missing is probably Neiman Marcus but I don't shop there anyway. I do miss Pier One sometimes.

Here in Northern Delaware, we are definitely not lacking in department stores at all. Maybe a couple of the very high end stores but that’s it! Like @Phillyshopper said, King of Prussia mall has everything and is a 45 min drive for me.

Interesting that seven retail stores in a prime Philadelphia location were just replaced with a new huge high tech Bar-Dining-Miniature Golf.

We still have quite a few clothing stores in my city, but the selections and variety of items in those stores has decreased substantially. I still prefer shopping in person. I make fewer bad purchases that way. I miss Ann Taylor, Loft, Stein Mart, & Dress Barn which all closed shop in my city in the past few years. I wish we had a Nordstrom store. We have Nordstrom Rack for discounted lots and items, but not a regular Nordstrom.

Same thing happened in my city recently. The back wing of one of our shopping malls was demolished and is now a "golf experience" venue. It was very popular when it opened. Not sure how it's doing now. The front of mall is still shopping.
