I was looking at robes on the Vermont Country Store site and saw a couple that reminded me of a vintage style. They were chenille sculpted robes.

Remember those chenille robes with flowers, vines, scrolling, butterflies, even dogs sculpted on them? They were multi-colored. Back in the 1980's, I was on a buying trip & saw a showroom filled with a variety of styles.

Back then, the chenille was heavy & sometimes they shed. But the styles were uplifting, cozy, & cute. I'd like to see those vintage style robes made in today's lighter weight & shed-free fabrics. And matching slippers.

Do you miss any robe styles that are no longer made?

We sold those robes in the late '90's and early 2000's. Brad Pitt wore one in Fight Club and Fran Drescher wore them on The Nanny. They were heavy weight, but did not shed. The price was up there, but nothing could compare.

They shed like crazy and I believe the robes were heavy. I never had one. It was 30 to 40 years ago and I was too young that type of robe. My mom and my aunts wore them. I did have chenille bed spreads. No. I dont miss chenille or anything else from the 80s.

Chenille robes had a resurgence in popularity in the 1980's, when I was a Buyer. Idk if they looked the same in the 50's or 60's. But the later ones were more boutiquey & a bit pricey. I still like the looks of them and wish they would be redone again in a better quality chenille. I'm tired of seeing the ones that are made of throw blanket material.
