Buying New Spring Clothes In January

I am not in the habit of buying spring clothes in January at all, prefering a lot of choices.

Today I found some capris I loved the width of, and a denim blazer.

Sizes were already gone! I guess they're ultra early shoppers!

How early do you start looking?

@ECBG - I buy clothes out of season all the time. If I see something I like, I purchase it.

If you like it, you may want to purchase before your size is gone.

Temps in Chicago will be sub zero for the next week. Spring clothing is the furthest thing from my mind regardless of the price!

Some people take vacations to warm places and cruises this time of year, so that could explain why things like that are selling out. Vendors put out "resort wear" this time of year.

The timing sounds like items from the Holiday/Cruise Collections. Those traveling in winter may need things to take to the tropical destinations. There was a designated buying market for these items for stores who had that clientele.

I was in my favorite Marshalls today, so much Winter merchandise was on clearance. I didn't buy anything, I tried on a red Vince Camuto sequined top just for fun. It was $19.99

The bell at the bottom of the sleeve was just far too wide.

I bought a Homeworx pink peony candle and a plain wooden shamrock shaped plate/tray whatever you would call it. Made in India, I fell in love with it and it was only $9.99.

I loved that they already had a small section of St Patrick's Day items.

When I worked at Saks Fifth Avenue, the first day of summer, the winter coats would be out! I used to sweat just walking thru the department.

Bathing suits would be out by New Years Eve. If you needed a bathing suit after March, you were out of luck.

I bought new "spring" clothes last year at the end of the season and put them away for this year.

I don't do trends ...... I do me .... so it's easy to stock up during clearance sales.

To save money, the experts recommend buying out of season, but not at the beginning of said season since prices will be highest then. However, I found out this week I probably should have been shopping early on for basics. It seems gone are the day when Lands End, Kohls, etc. carry basics in every possible color. I went looking for a forest green turtleneck and very few were to be found. The only one I found on Lands End, in balsam, I couldn't get in my size. After searching many sites, including Amazon, I finally found one on the Levis site, on sale even. Well, it came yesterday, and I open it to find out I didn't read the description close enough. It has ruched sleeves. Spent the afternoon picking the elastic out of the sleeves. The whole reason I wanted it was to get away from cuffed sleeves, but that didn't mean I wanted ruched.

The local Marshalls i went to yesterday - zero new fashions. even the clearance was disgustingly picked over.

Clearance tags on Cashmere - lots of sweaters still on the shelves. After the long weekend they make take additional markdown. love cashmere, may check again.

This is a super high-volume Marshalls too. lots of vaca homes here. give it til the end of the month, i have found nice spring clothes end of Jan early Feb.

While I get the concept of "resort wear", I'm always puzzled by it. I'm going on a Hawaiian cruise later this spring, and I have no intention of purchasing new clothing for it. I don't know anyone on the cruise and I'm never going to see them again. My current wardrobe is perfectly okay.

I don't really buy spring or fall clothing. We don't seem to have spring and fall weather any more.

I wear mostly 100% cotton year around. Jeans and 3/4 tee shirt is my uniform most of the year until the weather gets really hot.

I stopped buying clothing every year. No need for me to do so. My closets are bulging and I am not purging still fashionable clothing in excellent shape that fits me well.

This time of year many people vacation in warmer spots. They tend to buy new clothing for the trip. That's why new arrivals sell out.

I'm not necessarily looking for Spring items in January, but I buy things for all seasons all year long. It just depends on when I find something. If I like it, I will buy it, whether that means wearing it now, or putting it away until the weather is suitable.

I purchase clothes whenever I can find a good buy. Yesterday I ordered a D&C t-shirt and tank top set (A588147). I know what I like to wear and what I need; I don't vary too much from my set style. That sounds boring, but when I do go out of my style comfort zone the items just don't get worn.

Well considering I am on a self-imposed fashion diet, I get NOTHING!

I do think I will need some new shorts for the summer, but those items will be more readily available as the weather warms up.

@Greeneyedlady21 Love Marshall's. Still plenty of winter here, so I couldn't resist the sales. Got a BlANKNYC multi sequen blazer for $30, three two ply cashmere sweaters in red, black and brown for $39 each, Theory light weight jacket for $99 marked down from $250, and a Calvin Klein beautiful puffer jacket in off white for $50. Love my purchases and my sales. After doing this damage I didn't dare go to the Home Goods section!

The only spring item I have purchased is a new side stitch short sleeve top, and not from QVC. I don't need anything else.
