SEEING/WEARING RED

Every winter I collect my red sweaters/tops, etc. This seems to be the year for finding my red...only pop of color I wear. Well, here's the rub. I'm seeing bright true reds, but now that Ihave silver hair and no coloring on my face (lol), bright reds are too stark.

Anyone have this issue and do you find pinkish or a darker red anywhere?

So are you more for the blue reds or yellow reds----I am wanting a red something too, but lean more to the cooler red. How does burgandy sound to you?

I have a pale complexion and white hair and I still wear a bright red. I add a little more darker foundation so my face is not so pale & wear a true red lipstick. And flaunt my reds!

Wanted to share this b/c it seems to be this season's colors

the colors I have been wearing are cherry reds (for zoom camera work) and rose reds. There is an Amazon brand called "Aprill" that makes a ribbed turtle neck perfect weight perfect fit in that color. Another brand (same color) is Wosalba... same finely ribbed rayon as the other.

Red ( a blue red) always has been my favorite color. I still wear it and always get compliments. However, I am 76 and over the last ten years, I have switched to burgundy or wine when I buy new " red" tops. My hair still is fairly dark brown with silver " highlights," but I do not wear much make-up these days ( except lip color) and burgundy works well for me.

@wagirl It must be a cool red, but the burgundies and wines seem dark against my fair skin. May have to go with a red w/ a dar pinkish tone. Anyone see this in sweaters?

As a winter, I wear blue based reds. I would love a pink red but have seen none.

I won't look at yellow based colors; they don't even appeal to me, but look fine on others.

I love reds including wine/burgundy hues. This is one of my favorite leather dresses.

@Shanus I am very pale, silver white hair and wear reds even bright ones. With eyebrow pencil, some lip gloss I am fine. Even even better if I am wearing my dark tortoise glasses!

I try to look at the whole picture, not be too concerned about what might be better, but how would people see me--not the details but the overall way I look. When you are with others, do you examine details or take in the whole person--smile, well groomed, neat, wearing something nice, etc.?

I'm not a believer that many of the details and tricks (makes me look taller, etc) we think about really matter in the ppearance and perception of us to others.

@Sooner. Ive got the same coloring as you. I figure, since my skin doesn't have much color, I'm neutral and now wear and color I wish, including all shades of red. So far, I haven't been approached by the fashion police.

Wearing bright red makes me happy. I just wear a brighter shade of lipstick and Amp up the blush a bit. Life is short, wear what you want.

@Franklinbell ............If you mean lipstick the red I have now is from Urban Decay. Its a true red. Its a couple of years old so I dont have the name.

If you are talking about clothing, I like a true fire engine red.

Those are definitely the colors that I gravitate towards to in eyeshadow. Very wearable in fashion also. Is there somewhere else in addition to AM that you have found fashion in those tones? Ty

I'm very fair - my hair is still mix of light brown / gray ... green eyes. (red eyeglass frames)

Red has been one of "my" colors for years ... my apt. color scheme is black/red.

Any reds that tend toward a pinkish shade are awful on me ... but in general red is a good color for me.

I may be a Winter according to color analysis but red is definitely not my color. I actually dislike the color because the last thing I want is the color to reflect on my complexion.

I'm a 'fall' and look horrid in a blue-red. My mother was a 'winter' and looked great in blue-red lipstick. Every time I would try on her lipstick as a kid, I couldn't figure out why I looked so awful in it and she looked so good, lol, but I digress.

I'm looking for tomato red, a red-orange color. Impossible to find because the only reds available seem to be burgundy or bright blue-red.

Hi, @Shanus ! I don't have a lot of red in my closet except for a Louis dell'Olio turtleneck sweater that I've had for years. I recently bought a Marla Wynne design on HSN and it is soft and beautiful. I also bought it in the lilac. HSN's coupons make her designs much more affordable.

I just purchased a few turtlenecks from Loft and one of them is raspberry colored.

It is called "fresh magenta". When it arrived here to me, I wasn't sure if it is a color that flatters? It wasn't the same color as the picture on the web. It is a very blue pink...and even difficult to distinguish from the red turtleneck that I received.

''Sorry, this is only as far as I have gotten this season in a search for a wearable, flattering "nicer" turtleneck!
