I thought this was a cute coat until I learned the double breasted buttons are for decoration only. The coat closes by snaps! I can't imagine wearing this. A619587

Snaps ruin it. It's not very upscale. I watched the video. The snaps looked like they were pulling on the model. For that price, it should be real double breasted buttons.

It would be a god send for the right individual - think someone elderly who just doesn't have the manual dexterity for buttons anymore or someone with say Parkinsons or MS. Until you told me there were snaps I had no idea so it wouldn't bother me.

Small snaps on thick fabric can also be difficult to close. They saved the cost of maybe 10" of fabric plus sewing button holes.

What a wonderful idea for folks with dexterity issues. Please don't assume everyone is able bodied with full use of their hands. Just be thankful you do. Thanks for posting @Houstonoilers

@PickyPicky3 Cleaners closing started decades ago - as soon as casual Fridays started because that quickly led to even more casual dress in many offices.

Now that so many more workers are doing jobs remotely plus the research into new fabrications the pace might well have picked up. I'm 3 decades retired. Close to no use for cleaners.

Looks like Dennis, like everybody else, is cheapening his brand. In addition to the snaps, the coat is 79% polyester and only 3% wool.

It's probably just a feature addressing dexterity issues and providing alternatives for those who need snaps. I think it's a great idea and don't see it cheapening the item at all. I consider snaps and inclusive feature.

Thanks for posting the picture @San Antonio Gal, I was just about to do that. The coat does not appear double breasted @PickyPicky3.. Double breasted coats, when closed, the buttons are all on one side of the opening, not on both sides. So I wouldn't have thought the coat was double breasted from looking at it. I do dislike snap closures on jackets and coats. I bought a beautiful upscale blazer in a store many years ago with a snap closure that I wore closed, and found that the snaps required a lot of force to open and close, so I don't know that they would be better for a person with manual dexterity issues @Houstonoilers @mspatmac @Jk9. That snaps wore out fast (a few months of wear, and it was a dress jacket, not outerwear), and the jacket would not close. The snaps were not replaceable. I don't like to see snaps on an open jacket. It just looks cheap. Isaac Mizrahi has a lot of snap jackets and I just won't buy.

@Kachina624 Polyester blends are now the standard for coats unless the buyer wants to pay 4 figures. Calvin Klein, Kors, second tier Ralph Lauren brands, all their coats are polyester blends. If they look nice, it doesn't matter IMO. Coats don't need to be breathable. Polyester linings have long been commonplace.

Yes, they keep the coat closed, but they also come lose and fall off. I have had buttons break too. There is usually an extra button sewn inside, but often one extra button is not enough.

I hate to keep hunting for the right thread color and tightening buttons on a coat, and trying to find notching buttons. I often have ended up purchasing all new buttons and replacing them all.

I actually loved the snaps on this coat and thought it was a great idea. I also liked that it was washable.

I was disappointed the coat is not offered in petite sizes.

Buttons on heavier coats has been the norm for as long as I have seen coats. Some fur coats have hook and eye closures, and newer puffer have zips. All makes sense to me

What about buttons on heavy coats do you find not practical?

I find them very practical. Easy to open and close just some of the buttons if one is too warm or needs more ease of movement. If they fall off, which for me is not often, very easy to sew back on and, if needed, find a replacement button.
