Help! Wide leg jeans length

I purchased these:

But...

They are at least 4" too long which means it's back to the drawing board with shoes if I want to wear this style. The inseam is 29".

I ask myself ... do I really want to either buy new shoes/boots with a higher heel in order to wear or I will need to take them to a seamstress?

What would you do?

Choice 3: forget this whole idea!

Easy answer for me: shorten the pants.

Almost all my pants have to be hemmed and I can do it myself. (The tailor charges $20 per pair.)

Shorten. I have to shorten all my pants even when I get petite. A lot of dry cleaners can do alterations, especially just hemming. The cost was $16. A lot cheaper than shoes.

@LTT1 I'm 5'10 and bought trouser style white and blue jeans this summer. The trouser jeans were designed to be long even for someone 5'10. If you found a pair of trouser jeans that fit you well everywhere else, have the length tailored. Trouser jeans really are classics.

@LTT1 one more thing.... shorten them just enough so they don't drag on the ground - don't go too short or they will look weird.

Thanks! I will take your much appreciated advice and find a cleaners to hem them. You are right... much cheaper than shoes!

it seems that the last time I went to a tailor (when I lived in TX) the only one I trusted charged a fortune to do any alterations. I don't need anything fancy...

I am hoping that I look like I did when I was 20!!!

It seems "back in the day" I wore this style and felt good in them! Shoes were platforms about

5" and WOODEN!

I get most of my pants hemmed since I'm 5' 6".

Many good alterations people may not speak English well. I find it best to put a straight pin where I want the hem to be.

I had bought 2 of the same capri last year. One got shortened more than the other making it too short for my enjoyment. I wear that pair around the house.

@LTT1 You seem to have made up your mind, but since I am a fellow shorty, which I think you are if 29" inseam is too long, I will share my feedback. 29" used to be my inseam when I was 5'2", less than 5 years ago, but I have shrunk a couple of inches. I think this style looks better long, so if you can wear heels, the pants will look better. If you can't or won't wear heels, I would see whether I like how this pant would look shorter with the tops I would be wearing with them, and make my decision whether to shorten or return from there.

I did buy a couple of wide leg pants, and find the softer material to be more flattering on my short body. QVC has shorter wide leg pants but QVC prices are high.

@LTT1 The last time I shortened jeans in NYC was many years ago and it was about $20. Probably $30+ now. QVC has a lot of shorter inseams, which is one of the main reasons I shop here, even if prices are high. I can shorten sleeves (not well but acceptable), but pant hems are too difficult for me. They charged me extra for over stitching the jeans' hem.

The Old Navy jeans (tried them on again, bought two sizes) looked much better in the smaller of the two sizes. The leg shape was better... and should have been the same but wasn't.

Also, you make a good point about the fabric. I supposed I'm spoiled... these jeans have no stretch and they are SO HEAVY!

I'm not used to denim being so heavy...so these for now are a "no".

I am sorry @ECBG had this problem. My seamstresses usually speak a language I don't speak, but they have a room for me to try the pants on (I check for cameras) and they pin both pants or sleeves while I am wearing, and I have never had a problem.

@LTT1 I also recently purchased a few pairs of jeans with a 29" inseam. I wear a petite and usually need a 26"-28" inseam depending on the cut.

The reason I bought the longer size is because the rise is higher on a regular size vs. a petite size. I like a higher rise and I like my jeans so I plan on having them hemmed. I just can't wear heels.

I cannot picture myself wearing heels unless it would be a VERY SPECIAL occasion...and please, please don't make me STAND in heels!

My actual best inseam is same as yours. With more luck than usual I purchased two styles in the last year of Candace Cameron Bure "cropped" jeans (I need the standard rise). I should just be happy that I found these and leave the newer wide leg jeans alone for awhile!

I am short and need to get my pants hemmed. IMHO, in this case , I think shortening them 4" is too much and will ruin the line of the jeans. I would try to find a wide leg jean in a shorter length.

The line if the jean won't be affected if the leg is absolutely straight.
