Jeans @ $250-$300?. vs $ 49. What is the difference?

Can any one here tell me what a $250-$300 jean looks like? Or what special features it would have ?

It was mentioned by a host talking about a jean trouser selling at $49.xx and that it should sell for at least @ $250-$300, so it was quite a bargain to her.

It was a pull on jean. I have never seen a jean trouser worth that much, that's why I am asking.TIA.

The difference is you get to say you are amoungst the oh so very special people who have the $ and are part of the very very "fashionable" in the know people. And everyone will look at you and be oh so envious.

You have arrived. You are above the peons. You live a life of self proclaimed beauty and self-importance.

As for real difference, they are both made of cloth but one is four times as much as the other.

And someone, not you, is taking your $200 to 300 all the way to the bank.

I will never know....

I could never justify spending that much money on denim jeans just to be able to say I did.

I have never in my life spent more than about $50.00 or $60.00 for jeans, with most of mine being below $20.00.

I buy my jeans at Costco. The Jessica Simpson jeans the past few years are great. Fit me perfectly! I have a few pairs of the Buffalo brand too. I also have some Lauren Conrad jeans from Kohl's, all bought on sale with and with a 30% off. The last ones I bought there were clearanced for $5.00 and I had 30% off too!!

I like the slim ankle jeans from Talbot and have a few pairs from them. But only when they are on a very good sale.

We are told a lot of humbug about higher

prices. Better quality,etc. Just examine and you will be able to see if their is a diff.

I generally buy my jeans at Goodwill. Some great brands. Bought a pair of the QF w/the rhinestone hearts for around $5.00.

Jeans $200.00 up are almost always American made. They have unions. The cotton is different. Most are made of Supima cotton. At least mine are. Also the stretch is less. Mine have lasted for years. They also go on sale so you would be paying less. inflation is a factor too. When I first started buying them, they were on average $100.00. Since then, they climbed up to about $250.00 average.

@songbird Mine have lasted for years,also and are not American made. The thing is how they are laundered,not where they are made.

@Flatbush I believe many years ago, the higher priced jeans were well worth the extra money. They were so much better than say the Sears brand. Nowadays, these companies are able to make the same fabrication so the feel is the same. The only reason I can see spending a very high price is due to sizing. I have a very hourglass figure, it can be challenging at times to get a really good (comfortable) fit.

If you are difficult to size, wear jeans, and you find a brand that works, regardless of price, it's worth it. But, like I said, many companies are now much better fitting and fabric.

The best jeans I ever owned were Charlotte Ford. I wore them in the early 1980's. They cost around a $100 which was quite a lot for those days. What made them different was the fabrication and the fit. They were perfect. I owned Gloria Vanderbilt and others, but they could not compare.

Quality is in the details. If it doesn't seem obvious to someone, then don't buy it. Age has changed my needs. My favorite jeans these days are inexpensive, but they are comfortable. I once cared how I looked. Today I care how I feel.

Honestly, whatever pricetag fits into your budget and you're happy with the jeans, what does it matter the name brand or where they're bought from? I've purchased some great clothing and shoe items from Costco and look good and feel great about the price. Just because something has a pricetag of $200 dollars or more, doesn't necessarily mean it's better than something that costs less. So, buy what you like, what you're comfortable spending and wear it in good health!

@songbird The prices for cotton anything is really high now. Spandex. poly, etc. is usually added to many clothinng items to bring the price down.

My NYDJ jeans are as high as I go and I purchase at Nord. Rack or wait for a sale on their site.

I have never purchased jeans in that higher price range because when I tried them on, they didn't fit better, didn't feel better, and I didn't look better wearing them. So I didn't buy them.

I wear jeans a lot, and they come from here, there and everywhere. I try them on and if the fit is good they come home with me.

Never had a problem with jeans not lasting. I generally end up donating because styles change over the years and they end up looking dated. (Looking at you, skinny jeans.)

$250 is common for jeans. There are high end designer jeans that cost $900, $1000. The difference between them and a well made quality jean is in the price tag and name on that inside tag that no one ever sees. The Chanel website has a pair of wide leg, mid tone jeans for $2100. Gucci has straight leg jeans for $980 and flares for $1150. Valentino has similar jeans for $1300. Just Google or go to designer websites and you can see for yourself. But if you visit those type of boutiques and stores, you can go in and just look at the prices that the wealthy or near wealthy pay for things. When they put their jeans on wit their $300 white tees, they don't look any different or better than us.

Unless you wear your jeans inside out so people can see the label, who knows how much you spent and who cares but you? If you can afford them and find they're worth the money spent, purchase the jeans you like.

There may or may not be any real difference. It's the sales spiel that's what's on trial. There is a lot of spiel going around these days.
