Do you really want pull-on versus zipper jeans?

I'm defining jean as a somewhat heavy denim with a firm wide waistband, like today's Belle TSV, versus a pant like Quacker Factory that has an encased elastic waistband in a thinner fabric. The pants I can tolerate, the heavy jeans I have are driving me crazy. After dinner I sit down in my recliner for a couple hours of TV. A zipper jean allows me to open the button (and sometimes even the zipper). Not always, but I have the option. And then there are those rushed trips to the restroom while out shopping. A zipper is much faster. Please note your preference and I will shut up if I'm in the minority.

I prefer a zipper, I never wear jeans to lounge in at home.

No pull-ups! Never, ever, especially for jeans. Jeans need the structure to fit well, in my experience. Also if I wear pull-ups I end up with the pants heading for my knees within a half hour.

I prefer zippered jeans: pull-ups tend to keep sliding down.

I have no use for a zipper.

How is a zipper a faster way to the restroom than elastic waist pants?

Only a zipper or button fly for me. Oh, and belt loops.

I understand pull ups for those with dexterity problems or little kids.

I have never had a pair of pants, leggings, joggers or anything else with an elastic waist travel from my waist without my assistance pulling them down.

I have one pair of pull on ones, but I don't wear them out of the house. They are not "jeans" IMO.

I don't know how a zipper is faster or more comfortable for sitting than elastic.

I like pull-on jeans only if they have belt loops, have a faux fly and real pockets. I have dexterity issues with my hands and zippers are a bummer for me.

Some of my DG2 zippered jeans can be pulled up w/o unzipping them. That's one reason why I buy those.

All my pants, jeans included, need a belt on me to keep them up.

I believe there is room for both styles in everyone's wardrobe. I do not always like a button sticking into my bellybutton or the button waist band fabric sticking out hitting my shirt causing a little bump. My fashion look is smooth with a hollywood pull on waist and holds me in more. Granted I do not like "knit" pull on jeans, many are so heavy and my bag out. But the twill mix or similar, is fine. I think I can see in my future using less and less button styles just for dexterity reasons, I already have arthritis n other joints, and I expect it to hit my hands someday.

I don't have much of a waist and definitely not a hippy person. I think people with more or a straight body as opposed to people with a more curvy shape tend to have a problem with pull-up jeans @Etoile308 .

Yes, yes, yes! I'm tired of those metal buttons making holes in my tops or sticking out leaving a bump. I love pull ones for comfort and I am not one to tuck in so the zipper never shows anyway. Belt loops protrude too and pull ons make for a smoother fit on your knit tops.

I'm not crazy about the elastic waist pull-on but if there's a good deal, I'll buy them. I don't have enough hips to keep them up so I've added loops for a belt. Easy enough to deal with.

The pull-on with the flat waist are okay. I bought a bunch of those from Blair both wide leg and bell. My favorite in the pull-on category. No belt needed. No sliding.

Straight / wide / bell leg jeans with zip, button and belt loops are my overall faves. Those buckle free elastic belts work just great.

Bottom line: for me what counts is leg shape, fabric, color. If I have those three criteria ... I can manage the waist issue.

I have no hips and without a zipper everything tends to fall down.🥺 I have yet to find a pair of pants that hasn't travelled with an elastic waist. I've tried many too.

No, I don't. I have a couple pairs and that's it. They are usually worn with tunics or a shirt that covers the waistband and a cardigan. I think tops look silly tucked in or half tucked with that wide waistband. I'm assuming it's less expensive and easier to make pull-on pants also. I always feel too confined in them too, feels more like a legging or jegging to me. I really prefer a good pair of jeans with a functioning button and fly!

@eddyandme. If your pants slide down, the rise is too short and you should take that into consideration when ordering. I have plenty of zippered jeans with the same problem and have to wear belts. I like petites for the short inseam but the rise on them is shorter so they often slip down the backside.

You 'hit the nail on the head' @Kachina624 ! I need the petite inseam, short legs, and no belt loops in the pull-ups. I think it's also the weight of the material 'cause I have no problem with leggings.

I no longer own any pants, jeans or otherwise, that have a zipper and button. Pull on are more comfortable and easier to maneuver for me. And I have no problem keeping them up--LOL!!

When I was young and slim, I would never wear elastic waist pants.Now that's all I wear as the fit is better.
