Is Waffle Knit the New Sherpa?

I realize sherpa isn't going anywhere. However, every fashion outlet and catalogue I'm looking into for fall & winter has new waffle knit styles. Even QVC has presented a lot of waffle knit already.

Some of the styles are really nice, not just the thin, utilitarian kind of henley tops either.

I have seen more waffle knit and French terry offered than in past years. Waffle knit isn't comfortable to me.

I really like the first sweater which is surprising to me because I'm not a fan of waffle knit. Might go check it out.

I associate it with long underwear worn underneath garments. I have a fitted waffle knit top and bottom that I wear under my clothes when I'm in frigid temps for an extended period of time.

💟 I love waffle knit if it's pure quality soft cotton.

😝 I loathe sherpa. Every little thing embeds itself deep into the sherpa fabric, and it's really difficult to pull it out. And, in no time, sherpa tends to mat down and look like that poor homeless dog that needs to go to the rescue shelter. Actually, the dog looks better than the sherpa.

And it's fake sherpa. Fake, Fake, Fake !

I like waffle knit tops. Most of them look nice enough and I had seen that LL Bean sweater on their website. It's so pretty but I can't wear too many of those big turtlenecks anymore, unless it's really frigid out.

I Iike the LLBean sweater and it comes in nice colors. I would order cream when/if there is a sale.

The Macy's sweater is also nice, but it is made with acrylic and I really don't like how that fabric wears.

In general, I like waffle knits made with cotton for very casual wear. I don't like the thin kind that loses shape after it's been washed.

At least waffle knit doesn't look like a mangy dog after a little use and a washing as sherpa does. I like it, it's comfortable to wear.

I love waffle knit and for years the only place I could find it was Uniqlo. I've purchased 3 of the D&C tops that were offered a few weeks back and will look at the one mentioned in the OP. All of the tops I have are crew neck style which is very comfortable.

I like waffle knit and have plenty of it. The baby waffle is solf and comfortable and what I like about it is that you don't see thru it. Many of the fabrics used for tops are thin enough to see thru.

As for sherpa, I bought a vest with a Sherpa collar from Denim & Co once. Convinced me that I don't want to own anything that is Sherpa. Just a way to cheapen a garment to try and keep the price in line. There is a lot of that going around lately.

🤗 I bough a dark brown faux suede/faux fur revesible tunic length vest about 20 years ago at the Q, still looks like new today, and I still wear it. Of course, those were the days when faux fabrics were often mistaken for the real thing.

I had a couple of waffle knit tops years ago -- that awful, thin, shapeless, henley waffle knit. I wore it when cleaning or hiding it under other tops for warmth.

But this season I've seen really nice waffle knit. Thicker, soft-looking, and great styles. I'm going to give it a chance and pick up one or two.

@on the bay .... I used to love thermal underwear....had a favorite gray top I wore so much and it never wore out.

So I'm happy about seeing it again.

I don't care for waffle knit, or rib knit. From any brand that I have tried. So it's all an easy pass for me.

@Love my grandkids. The older waffle knit used to stretch out of shape during the first few hours of a wearing. It doesn't seem to do that any longer and is more dense. It's greatly improved.

@Caaareful Shopper You know, it seems that those pretty sweaters were knitted using a seed stitch, so it mimics waffle knit. At least that's how they appear on my tablet screen. Regardless, I love the sweaters!
