Ok so I do not buy expensive handbags ...so what brands do you buy ?

I cannot afford the DB handbags or others that are sold on the Q. I usually buy at Marshalls or Kohls. Where do you buy from ?

Thrift stores, antique stores, all over the place, mainly have vintage purses. Have a couple of Coaches.

What is your cap? If you're not fussy, you can get well-made, used bags (Obviously, well cared for). Many bags are just way overpriced now. Even Fossil and Lucky have gone through the roof. Tig is using plastic.

Other than that, the outlets and stores like Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Boltons, Strawberry, Kohls are good places. I used to get great stuff at Filenes's Basement. They went out of business.

I used to have a lot more bags, but it made sense to invest in $$$ bags that I would wear for years, because they would hold up better. And they have. I don't like disposable stuff. Maybe you do. We all different things that we look for in a bag. What is acceptable for one, is not for another.

I have a quirky taste regarding bags. And, I switch them just about every day.

1. I make some of them myself. Artsy - freeform.

2. Casual: I buy totes when I'm on vacation. I can't think of one time I didn't have one when someone didn't remark on the "cool bag." (One time a man across the aisle on the airplane asked me where I got my bag because he wanted one just like it for his wife.)

3. I also buy lots of canvas totes from LandsEnd and have them monogrammed with random initials. (I also buy initial jewelry with random letters. )

4. Non-casual: I used to always buy at Filene's Basement or Loehmann's. Now - Daffy's, Strawberry, or Bolton's. Occasionally, on sale at Lord & Taylor or Bloomingdale's. I have "serious" bags for those times when I have to pretend I'm a grown-up.

5. My favorite place of all - after my souvenir bags - is NYC Street Fairs. Almost every summer I buy a couple more.

I have an absolute limit - including shipping and tax of $ 70 for any purse. So i shop at outlets and places like steinmart and TJ Maxx, and Bells outlet. half the fun to me is finding the perfect bargain. i also shop the as is section on QVC for well priced Tig bags. I refuse to pay the full price for Tig bags - they are not good value for the money with all the vinyl trim and all. All that said - i am a sucker for vera bradley bags and i do shop at a local store here that carries them - usually looking for a deal on a D/C pattern or something. To me , the thought of buying a used purse - that someone else had used , had put their dirty hands into and probably used tissues etc in is really repulsive. My purses MUST be new.

A couple of weeks ago, I found an original Ralph Laren at a thrift store for $3.99. I will buy Coach but only at outlet prices. As someone mentioned in another post often the Coach outlet will give you a coupon when you go in so I have gotten Coach bags that were 50% off and then another 30% off that marked down price.

I have also purchased bags on sale at places like Dillards. No major designer but just a decent bag at a decent price.

I also make my own - knitted and then felted bags - not for everyone but I always get compliments when I carry them.

I buy at TJ Maxx and Marshalls. My cap is $125 for a bag I will get a lot of weekday/seasonal wear out of.

$25 or less for "recreational" or "cute stuff" that will have limited use for a particular season or event.

The more I know I can use it, the more I am willing to spend.

I switch to a weekend purse for casual wear every weekend and will switch my weekday purse every couple of months.

I don't change bags a lot, but Vince Camuto has some pretty smaller styles. Belks coupons a lot of time. Also, in the past I've gotten some pretty bags at TJ Max, but it takes repeated visits. I don't carry large bags.

Are the Coach bags made for the outlet store or are they vender returns? I know a lot of lines like Ralph Lauren and Chicos manufacture just for their outlet stores and they stock seasonal returns.

I don't buy a bag based on the brand name. I know what I like in a bag. It has to light weight before I put anything in it, I like shoulder bags with one strap only and it must have some kind of organization to it with an outside pocket. I do enjoy Vera Bradley bags in the Summer, come Fall/Winter I usually carry a leather bag but I don't think I have ever spent more that $50 for one with sales and coupons and they have held up well.

I rarely pay more than $50 for a bag, and I usually am able to find something I like for $39 or so. I have bought several nice bags from TJ Maxx. Marshall's and Burlington are also good bag sources. I have bought one or two at thrift stores, but I'm very particular about bags I buy there. They have to be very clean and in new or nearly-new condition. Liz Claiborne is a brand I have bought at TJ's and elsewhere and gotten great wear out of. Nice quality/weight faux leather, nice classic and fashion colors, and good internal organization; I have some croco-embossed LC styles that I particularly like.

I've always bought lower priced bags.

I've bought at Kohl's (Relic) and Penney's (Nicole by Nicole Miller, Liz Claiborne) in the past, but right now I'm not seeing anything I love.

Macy's has a good selection, but finding something in my price range is challenging.

I want a bone or pale beige handbag (small/medium size, and not crossbody) for summer (PVC, not real leather). I'm still looking!

I buy expensive bags at Macy's and Lord and Taylor but ONLY when they have GREAT sales and coupons. I buy Michael Kors and Brahmin bags but I NEVER pay over $100! I also get great deals on Coach bags at the Coach outlets.

My everyday bag is a navy Dooney. It has been my everyday bag for about three years. I do not like bags with lots of logos on them. I like Barr and Barr bags. I have many different color bags the one thing is they have to be is leather not plastic. That is the first place I check at Nordstrom sale time! I change my bags a couple times a week.
